Hi, As newbie here, need some help. My garmin Nuvi 670 suddenly shut down and when i Powered on, There was nothing on it. No files, nothing. As far as i know and what i have read, i succesfully loaded the 2011 map update, recovered some files, but there is one missing. Basemap I think. Even I have the map loaded into the unit,I can only see rectangles, nothing else. Someone told me I needed that map. What software or files should I have on it and where I can find them???

Another question: The gmap3d, gmaptz, *.jcv work on this unit? I loaded on the unit also, but I cant see nothing.

All I know is nuvi can display the detailed map without basemap.

Have you tried to zoom in?
Anyway install the basemap-
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
for 670 specs

Could be the "gmap3d, gmaptz, *.jcv" files are messing up the GPS and making files invisible. Also if some files are out of order, like not in the expected folders, that would make the GPS act screwy.

Map loaded on my dvice with no problem, my question is do I have to download any other file to be able to have the Lane assist and 3-D building view or it's included.

Im going California for Vaccation and renting a car in I don't wanna be lost!! Thanks

OK I did that but the JCV fle name is D2339010A.jcv do I keep is as it is or have to rename it to somthing else.

Been reading a lot on these posts and people are doing a lot of different things. Maybe someone can point me in the best direction. Have a nuvi 250. Have the latest software but 2008 maps. I saw three styles of downloads on page 1 of this post: standalone unlock with multiple files, the full 4 gig (which I'm guessing has mapsource in it?), and the unlocked img on its own. Why are people doing different things? I downloaded the img, put it on an sd card, ran the nuvi, selected the map and nothing changed. I did notice on the main memory the main file is a prom.img and the card runs supp.img. If I want to update this properly what method should I do? Any help would be great.
