What if maps also have multiple codes? Can we put more than one code in the .unl file?
To use multiple maps on an SD card for the Garmin. Join all the maps together using the GMap tool.
Place the joined file in the Garmin directory on SD card as gmapsupp.img, enter the SD card 25 digit code into the gmapsupp.unl file. In your garmin unit go to setup, maps, info all the maps will be listed simply select the maps you want.

Yes, you just put it next to the first code, no space, you can put as many as you need, the only problem is that I think Garmin can't handle if the file is larger then 2GB.
Yes, just put as mny code as you need one next to the other without a space.
So guess calling the second map image gmapsupp2.img will not work? I read somewhere else that this works on some Garmin models.
Also, what would one do if the combined IMG file is bigger than 2GB?
One more question, how would you find the SD Card number/ID on a Zumo 550?

Assuming you are refering to a Garmin device, you can use the internal memory to copy two maps, one named gmapprom & the other gmapsupp. You can use your SD to copy two more files one named gmapsupp & the other gmapsup2 not gmapsupp2 Garmin won't recognize it. If you want more info about mapset naming you can find an interesting mapset naming guide here: (link removed)

That's cool, very useful to know the naming methodology and the function of the various IMG files.
I have just tried renaming the gmapsup2 per your instructions but the Zumo still does not "see" this second mapset. I know this mapset works because it will pick it up if i call it gmapsupp.img
As to the SD card question, i was simply asking because i've read here that if you generate the key for the SD card than you can plug the SD card into other compatible Garmins, that's all.

How many maps do you want to use ? You can have three by naming the one gmapprom in internal memory, the other gmapsupp & one more in SD named gmapsupp.
Hi all, I own an Oregon 550 (1 GB of internal memory) with a 4 GB Micro SD Card, Fat32.
In the internal memory, under /Garmin, I have:
gmap3d.img (from CN EU 2011.10)
gmapbmap.img (original map, non-routable)
gmapbmap.sum (?? don't know what it is)
gmaptz.img (from CN EU 2011.10)
While into the Micro SD, under /Garmin, I have:
CN EU_2011_10.img (full set, loaded with Mapsource 6.16.1 patched, unlocked with unlocker alternative New v.5.2)
G2-VEU012R.img found already unlocked
G2-VEU014R.img.xxx (found already unlocked - it seems that only one G2 can be seen at a time, so I have loaded both and add or remove the .xxx in one of them as required)
IT-TopoLand.img
TopoCH_2.img
The file names are exactly as listed, and it works perfectly. So I use these names to make sense to the content.
Cheers
Danilone
