    guys,

i installed Navcity® Turkey 2009.02 in my nuvi 760. However, they overwrited Middle east maps because they share the same name (gmapsupp.img)!

How can resolve this because I need both maps in one trip..

    your help is highly appreciated

    ali

Come on, check the naming guide which map names are possible.
    For Nuvi u have gmapsupp.img, gmapprom.img and gmapprom1.img
You can also use gmapoem.img, but then the map is always active and can't be selected in Mapsource on the nuvi

    You have options:
    1) Naming convention allows for more then one name. Allowed names are:
GMAPBMAP.IMG - base map (not routable AFAIK use it for base map only)
    GMAPPROM.IMG - first detailed map
    GMAPSUPP.IMG - second detailed map
    GMAPSUP2.IMG - third detailed map

    1) Gmapbmap.img Basemap
    2) gmapprom.img gmapprom.unl rename your map.
    3) gmapsupp.img gmapsupp.unl
    4) gmapsup2.img gmapsup2.unl

Sorry, this is only for Garmin MobileXT, Nuvis 7xx don't accept gmasup2.img,they accept gmapprom1.img

    Dear Tom1807, Dear Catymag,

I bought my GPS Nüvi 255-White in France, but now I'm living in Turkey.
I dowmloaded files and unlocked turkish map in mapsource.
When I transfered the map in my device, it came originally with "gmapsupp" name. But when I switched-on my GPS I received the message error "Can't Unlock Maps".
So I didn't see the turkish map appearing in "Map Info" in my device (still only the CN Europe NT 2010.10 original one) and precision of turkish map is still as original one also => only highway are showned !
I tried by renaming the file as "gmapprom1" => same message, still no map appearing, same low precision.
Then as "gmapsup2" & "gmapoem" => message desappeared, but still no turkish map in Map Info, and still original low precision !!

In my Nuvi 255, I noticed that for all original files I have (gmapbmap, gmapprom, gmaptz), there's a second file with same name and ".sum" extension ... should I need a similar one for the turkish map file also, to be recognized by my device ? How I can get it ? Or do I need a specific name that were not mentioned in that forum for a Nuvi 255 ?

Thanks in advance for your kind support if you have a solution.
    Regards

Thanks to pro-active support of Catymag, I solved the issue.
Finally it's the "Unlock Key" given in this tutorial that was not valid for my device (turkisk map unlocked in mapsource but locked in my Nuvi 255 after transfert).
You just need to download Jetmouse Keygen (key generator for Garmin), in which you have to precise your GPS ID and the Map ID, then generate an unlocked key that you will use to unlock the map in Mapsource ... and map will be also unlocked in your GPS after transfert.

Thanks again to Catymag for her tremendous support
