    nextgen Skin iGO nextgen by pongo (LATEST) COPY Netspider mod

    Spoiler: Large Screenshot
    landscape

    here you are my mod over "Skin iGO nextgen by pongo (LATEST) COPY" [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    Because I did not like many things, also I found bugs, I added many improvements and fixes. Did it for myself, but I am happy to share all with you all.

    All credits goes to the original Pongo author. My work is based on his work. I will be glad if the original author likes my improvements and integrate it into his further versions, so next time I don't have to waste my time doing all this.

    To avoid lame discussions, remember that I like my mods and I'm using the way I made it. I don't care whether you use/like it or not. If you don't like it, feel free to use the original from the original author!

    All my modifications are in 19 zip files. You can find the original files named with .zip.orig next to mine. So you can compare the original versus mine and figure out how I made (Some of my changes are in .lua scripts so you need to de-compile using JiGOLua_v2.2.2 tool):

    * fixed dozens of bugs and glitches, including visual and functional as well. Broken menus that was gone, Day and Night Map Colours in Map Appearance, I bring them back. Broken non working setting Hide The Note 'on/off' in System Skin Settings, now is working. Wrong text encoding in Junction View signs, and some other bugs.
    * classic icons in Dark theme.
    * menus reordered in meaningful order, some renamed.
    * reordered and added extra buttons in Main Menu, on quick header, and below. Alternative Routes, Route Info, Simulation.
    * Made new buttons, 2nd Google Map button that opens inside iGO app, not in separate browser that send iGO in background or even kill it after the browser eat all RAM memory.
    * new buttons - Avoid Route Ahead, Alternative Routes, Avoid Tunnels, Trip Monitor. Text of the Route Preferences button is flipped - above is the method, below is the vehicle.
    * Many other buttons changed or added more functionality to the existing buttons, to make them more intuitive.
    * Live Online Traffic button works, shows live traffic. The fix is into sys.txt [tmc-http] and service_register_v1.sav (dont delete it). Only changed the behavior of the button on short/long press. Traffic jams are shown as blue line along the road edge.
    * increased size on dashboard, diricons, speedlimits, current speed, turns navigation, times into footer below, for easy reading when driving.
    * sound conflicts with other music apps are fixed. You can listen music and iGO simultaneously! If you have iGO and mp3 player at same time, iGO sound will not mute other sound apps. After iGO makes sound for first time, other music app may mute. Then pres play button in your music app again and iGO will not block it again. Fix into sys.txt [sound] sound_effect_unmute_delay
    * keyboard skin changed of the special buttons
    * added few Bulgarian keyboards with many extra symbols buttons. Bulgarian QWERTY, Bulgarian PC1, Bulgarian PC2. If you need another language, you can replace the Bulgarian alphabet into keyboard.zip and put your language and keep the other extra symbols. The keyboard layout is like PC keyboard layout.
    Added 36 car cursors, 43 voice languages, 127 Text To Speech languages, 26 color themes etc

    ===========================================================================

    If you have different screen resolution and everything looks too small/big you can scale iGO from these 2 parameters in sys.txt [rawdisplay]
    First change dpi=.... then change base_dpi=..... until you get best look

    ===========================================================================

    To change the time between beeping sound warnings for speedcams, schoolzones and etc. change the length of this audio file ui_nextgen\audio\!sectionbeepB.wav I did it about 40 sec long, so beeps on every 40 seconds

    ===========================================================================

    Live Online Traffic works. If you have Android 11+ DO NOT DELETE this file iGO_World\save\profiles\01\service_register_v1.sav. So don't reset my iGO \save\ folder because this file will get deleted. Or if you reset \save\ folder make sure to copy back this file service_register_v1.sav
    Upto Android 10 this files generates correctly. But above 11 it is generating broken and Live Traffic not work. So I generate service_register_v1.sav on Android 10 and just keep it and coping in my \save\profiles\01\ folder. You can use mine or you can generate yours on Android 10 and keep it

    ===========================================================================

    Download and install iGO World 9.18.27.736653 (copy the link and paste it into your browser to download!
    The host have some hotlink protection so if you click on the link it may block it)

    Spoiler: links

    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    download and copy the files from archive beneath into phone internal memory \iGO_World.
    Add your maps in \iGO_World\content

    Put your POI in .kml format into \iGO_World\content\userdata\poi\myplaces_iGO.kml.
    I use GoogleEarth to save my POI. You will find it in c:\Users\....\AppData\LocalLow\Google\GoogleEarth\
    I made small .bat file that convert GoogleEarth .kml compatible for iGO. Just name your file “myplaces.kml” and run the .bat file to produce “myplaces_iGO.kml” Then copy it into \iGO_World\content\userdata\poi\
    (copy the link and paste it into your browser to download! The host have some hotlink protection so if you click on the link it may block it)
    Spoiler: link
    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    The POI icon must be same name as your .kml ex. \iGO_World\content\userdata\usericon\myplaces_iGO.bmp (this.bmp format is not the regular one, you need iPAQ31xTools to create iGO bmp) In my archive you will find my custom POI icon \iGO_World\content\userdata\usericon\myplaces_iGO.bmp created with this program:
    (copy the link and paste it into your browser to download! The host have some hotlink protection so if you click on the link it may block it)
    Spoiler: link
    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    You can adjust POI height visibility over the map into \iGO_World\save\profiles\01\poi_visiblities*.txt

    Favorites poi are located in \iGO_World\save\profiles\01\users\00\user.upoi

    To prevent turnoff GPS when the phone is locked set App Info-> Battery-> Battery Optimization-> Don't optimize.

    If you have Android 11 and above, after you start iGO for first time it may stuck. In that case, do these steps:
    1. clean iGO App Storage & Cache. From the android app Settings.
    2. start iGO, it will stuck on loading screen
    3. kill iGO (kill it! dont send it in background)
    4. delete all files in \iGO_World\*
    5. copy files again \iGO_World\*
    6. delete all files in \iGO_World\save\preloads\* if any. They will re-generate again.
    7. start iGO. This time on it will start ok. Don't delete App Storage & Cache anymore.
    The reason to delete and copy again same files \iGO_World\* is because after start iGO regenerate the cache again with correct paths

    My mod over All Pongo versions:
    Download

    Alternative link. 10MB split file but that’s what I can do. Use programs like Internet Download Manager to drag&drop all links inside and download in a bulk
    copy the link and paste it into your browser to download! The host have some hotlink protection so if you click on the link it may block it
    Spoiler: 228 links

    UPDATE 1: Updated the links, now I integrated all changes into all 7 versions of original Pongo skin. I use the last version, but in case someone prefer older version, will find it inside the archive. Enjoy

    UPDATE 2: Thanks to the comments below, spotted in my sys.txt this parameter had typo save_checksum=0
    So I correct it and re-upload all again with correct save_checksum=0 and save_safety=0. So now it wont generate useless checksums and *_A* *_B* files

    UPDATE 3: fixed small visual glitch caused by wrong comment line in the_skin_by_pongo.zip\ui_nextgen\common\ui\navigatemap.ui.

    I am done. I can't see any bugs or problems. If I add something or fix something will update files in my topic, rather to keep it only on my HDD.
    Bare in mind that I did all modifications and add-ons for myself, the way I believe should be done better. I reckon to share it. If someone finds something useful in my work can use it in his own compilations. That's why I included the original files. To be easy to identify what I changed so can easy transfer my code changes in his compilation.

    Don't get me wrong
    A large (the majority) part of the material already exists on the forum, there is no need to post your own uploads.
    What's the point of such a big package upload? Just put a couple of maps inside
    186 links? For what? Why couldn't it be in a couple of archives?
    P.S. Your site is "insecure"

    I uploaded cumulative distro. Not incremental.
    If incremental, only my work, would be less files, but far from convenient for regular user. I also don't find it convenient to collect dozens of files from variety of topics/links until I collect complete iGO. So after I already did it, waste my time to collect all extra pieces, it would be much easy for others to download and use directly.
    If someone wants only my changes to put in his iGO, then it is easy to extract my files only. But I expect most of people gonna use it directly and decide for themself whether gonna use it or not. I am using it and I am happy to share it.
    And more sources is not harm, especially the iGO version 9.18.27.736653 which now becomes difficult to find.

    The "couple of maps inside" are not maps. This is Digital Elevation Model of the whole continents. This is not part of the maps. The map itself may include its own Digital Elevation Model (.dem) but this is ONLY for the specific country of that map. Without this continental Digital Elevation Model, if you zoom out of the country which map is, you won't see the relief of the rest of the continent because you dont have explicit map instaled. In other words, if you go out of the map boundary you will see everything flat green. But with this continental Digital Elevation Model at leas you can see the relief across the continent so you would know whether is mountain or valley (without having any map for that coordinates)

    About my multiple links, this is ALTERNATIVE option, just in case. Unfortunately as I said above, I cant make it on bigger files due host limitation. It is 10mb, but this is very reliable host since I store old files there (posted here and other forums) for 7+ years. You don't like expired links isn't you? So it's for a reason, for sake of reliability. As I explained you can download all links in a bulk with simple drag&drop into Download Manager or similar program. And nowhere is written that is secure link since it clearly says HTTP not HTTPS. You don't expect secure SSL within HTTP don't you?

    @netspider1
    Thanks for the "dem" files.
    But the rest.........Pongo Skin from May 2020?
    First change the sys.txt
    [interface]
    save_checksum=0

    This causes the error with the poivisiblities.txt
    There are no a and b

    But the rest.........Pongo Skin from May 2020?
    First change the sys.txt
    [interface]
    save_checksum=0

    This causes the error with the poivisiblities.txt

    You welcome mate. I updated the links, now I integrated my changes into all 7 versions of Pongo skin. I use the last version, but in case someone prefer older version, will find it inside with my modifications.

    All my changes are in 18 zip files. The original Pongo files are named zip.orig so everyone can compare original versus my files and see exactly the changes. Some of my changes are in .lua scripts so you need to de-compile using JiGOLua_v2.2.2 tool. All my changes are thousands lines of code.

    Fixed some Pongo's bugs in his code. Broken menus that was gone, Day and Night Map Colours in Map Appearance, I bring them back. Broken non working setting Hide The Note 'on/off' in System Skin Settings, now is working. Wrong text encoding in Juction View signs, and some other bugs.
    Made new buttons, 2nd Google Map button that opens inside iGO app, not in separate browser that send iGO in background or even kill it after the browser eat all RAM memory. Added buttons Avoid Tunnels, Trip Monitor, and etc.
    Changed or added more functionality to the existing buttons, to make them more intuitive. Also visual changes, enlarge some elements for easy reading when driving, like diricons, current speed, times into footer below, etc.

    So now it will be even more easy to find, right? But still the files are scattered across so many places.
    I added so many modifications for my own usage. I could keep all on my personal HDD while I'm using it happily. But instead, I reckon to share it. Easy to download as full cumulative distro that contain all and everything in 1 topic here. Would be easier for people?

    Easier... maybe. Everything is laid out in its right place.
    Everybody can find all links in tutorial topic
    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    And it also doesn't mean that everyone will like your changes. So I support my colleague, and the general unwritten rule is to post screenshots of what it looks like

    I am an advocate that people should learn and to assemble what they need themselves, therefore, I never support such packages.

    No, but every now and then you should clean up or delete the “save” folder.
    I've never had these errors with Pongo's Skin

    First, thanks for the spotted bug earlier in sys.txt about save_cheksum=0. That was causing creation of *.cks and *_A.* and *_B.* files. I fix it and re upload all
    save_checksum=0
    save_safety=0

    About Pongos bugs, in original Pongo's code some of them you may have not seen if you never used first version 2020-05-21 and have not compared with next versions. Or you have not noticed at all...

    Try this. Put some of the earlier Pongo skins, 2020-05-21, before 2022-05-11. Don't put any add-ons! Just put normal skin version. Go in Settings-> Map Appearance you will see 2 menus Day/Night Map Colours available.
    Now put any Pongos skin after 2022-05-11, including 2023-07-14. And.... menus are gone? Because after 2022-05-11 menus viability is dependent of lua.Choice_Sky. Which doesn't exist anywhere. Which makes menus disappeared. That's a smelly code! So I remove that dependency to guarantee these important menus do not disappear in any circumstances, always visible, free from any dependencies!

    Or try this. Put some of the latest Pongo skins 2023-07-14 or some previous. Go in Settings-> System-> Hide The Note 'on'off' click and restart. This hides On/Off annotations in menus.
    After restart whats happen?? Not working, nice bug huh? This I fixed

    Or try this. Put earlier Pongo skins, 2020-05-21. Put this in sys.txt. This is to stop speed camera warnings when you stop. Here in Australia is not a problem but in some EU countries this is illegal, and you dont want to be visible on your GPS when cops stops you, coz you'll get huge fine. Start iGO and now in the drag mode, long press on the bottom right button "Save Favorite". All cameras gets hidden. Hold it again and cameras gets unhidden again.
    [autorad]
    disabled=0

    Now keep same sys.txt and put some of the latest Pongo skins, 2023-07-14. And when you start whats what's happen? All cameras are hidden by default! You can unhide it, but this is annoying every time when start iGO manually to unhide cameras. The only option is to make constantly unhidden:
    [autorad]
    disabled=1

    but then you are not able to hide it again when you want. Because long press on "Save Favorite" is disabled now.
    I dont know whether this is buggy, but is shitty 100%. A smelly logic here! I want iGO to start with unhidden speedcam and when I want to hide them by long pressing "Save Favorite".
    So I fixed this with adding more functionalities on
    [autorad]
    disabled=0 ;0= not disabled you can hide/unhide. iGO start hidden;
    disabled=1 ;1= disabled, cannot hide, permanent unhidden;
    disabled=2 ;2= not disabled you can hide/unhide, iGO start unhidden;

    Or try this. Put earlier Pongo skins, 2020-05-21, and look the Quick Cockpit buttons. Can you see how big and easy reading is the icon inside the button? Icon fills the button from end to end
    Now put any of the latest Pongo skins including last one 2023-07-14. Look the icon. Looks squashed inside button. Some useless paddings inside that shrinks the icon inside make it small and not so easy reading anymore. I remove this and now icons are bigger end to end inside buttons like in earlier Pongo versions. Feels much pleasant.

    I can go on and on.... but will stop here coz no one is reading anyway, everyone looks screenshots nowadays

    NO! DO NOT DELETE “save” folder!!! Read the description! This will break Live Online Traffic if you have Android 11 and above. You may "never had these errors" but that doesn't means other people like me have not seen them. Or you are using Android 10 and below.
    So I intentionally DID NOT deleted “save”folder.
    I CLEANED “save” folder from all my preloads files "\iGO_World\save\preloads\*" that can crash iGO if it's copied on another version of Android. Also cleaned all my personal data, history, poi etc.
    So the users get clean setup and nice looking iGO and no need to do all iGO settings from scratch hiding all stuffed bloatware that comes inside Pongo skins...

    I am done. Enjoy if you like it. I can't see any bugs or problems. If I add something or fix something will come back to update files in my topic, rather to keep it for myself on my HDD.
    Bare in mind that I did this for myself, the way I believe should be done better. I reckon to share it if someone finds a value. I would be glad if someone finds something useful in my work and use it in his own compilations. That's why I included the original files. To be easy to identify what I changed so easy to transfer my changes in his compilation.

    Why should I use an old skin?
    Of course you'll always find errors, otherwise Pongo wouldn't need to release any updates.
    The only error I can confirm is the on/off.....So what?
    Day/night colors are either under map appearance or in the weather settings. Either ... or. Not both at the same time.
    The save folder is also no problem: Live traffic works with the correct licenses. Maybe you should read the topic carefully again (the error is caused by the Pearl license).
    Feel free to tinker with the skin, but don't act like you're fixing dozens of bugs here.
