There is no need to brag about something that has nothing to do with this situation.

A direct answer is something that does not work this way. Here you will read a lot and learn to solve situations yourself.
Read the existing topics carefully and follow the instructions in detail (Give me your device and I'll get iGO working in a few minutes)

    Hi @Boki.

I'm here again after a long break. I'm trying to run and set up iGO again in the Android 13 system - on a smartphone .

I am using this specific device: Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 @ Android 13

Do you know any good iGO NextGen for this device that will also work with the secondary folder ("/contents") on the SD card ? If not... they don't mind. It will stay with the current version of iGO.

I am currently using Navigation (World) version 9.18.27.702387, which only runs from the internal flash memory. However, it does not run from the SD card, which is a shame.

This is not the shame of iGO, but of Android. Blame Google
It's been written about a zillion times by now

OK, I definitely agree with that.

I wanted to take up Android programming at some point... many years back when Android 4 and 5 still existed... but I scrapped it.

It's all really very funny, how stupid it all works. Android is not even an operating system as such. The actual operating system that Android uses is based on Unix or Linux (I can't remember exactly). JAVA is subsequently placed on it. In this JAVA, the graphical environment (GUI) of Android is then programmed - incorrectly called the Android operating system. As if that wasn't enough, then the applications themselves follow as the last layer. However, they do not work directly under the Linux/Unix system, but unfortunately, as it already happens in graphical environments, these applications are built directly into the Android GUI and even in the JAVA language. So there are several layers that unnecessarily burden CPU, GPU and RAM resources. But I got off topic .

I've also noticed that the newer the Android system is, the more rubbish it is.

Still, I would be interested in which iGO would be best and if it is even possible to use an SD card. And by some standard method... that means without unlocking (so-called "rooting") the Android smartphone. Or can it really not be used anymore ? Only if by special allocation of access rights, which the "cured" iGO version (ha ha) for Android does not have programmed in it (yet) ?

The system does not allow the use of software from the card, and no rooting helps. It's a security mechanism that Google is strengthening more and more. And the situation is getting worse and worse with newer releases. With Android 14, you can no longer even use "old" applications

You can try the editions that are set to use from the SD card, you have them in their themes (Pal/Israel/Gift), e.g. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or post #13 later, there are detailed instructions on how the folder should be named and its location for each of them ... but no one can guarantee it will work, because it depends on your phone/system. You can certainly try

    OK, thanks !

I will try this iGO Palestina... but a little later. Everyone raves about this iGO PAL edition, but there was something I didn't like about it in terms of its design (GUI)... I can't remember what. I already installed it once, sometime a few months ago, in its basic (not modified for SD cards) version.

GUI is same for every iGO edition. If you remove the edition skin, they will all be visually identical.
Only Avic and Africa differ a little bit.
Not surprising because the first one is actually intended for devices in the car, second for very specific vehicles and content.

    Their possibilities are another story

Well yes... I used iGO Avic for many years because it worked the fastest. And even together with Pongo SKIN. On my previous device - Huawei P8 Lite, this iGO Avic was the fastest when paired with Pongo SKIN. The current new versions of Pongo SKIN are quite slow, so I stopped using Pongo SKIN completely.

I already have so much chaos in different iGO versions that I have kept this iGO World, launched from the internal flash memory, on my new Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 (it is not a PRO version of the phone).

My only concern was that I would like to keep the internal flash used for applications, while using the SD card for iGO maps. But we already solved that together. I plan to test the iGO PAL with the modification for SD cards, as you advised me. But that's later.

I still get tired of this lab and testing of iGO with new Android systems, when I change my phone to a newer one, when I want to tweak iGO so that it is fast, responsive, suitable for me. :-(

I think you mixed up the themes a bit
You don't need iGO modified to work from SD card, on the contrary

Every iGO, but every one from the very first editions onwards, can move the content outside the basic folder even to an external card
But,considering that card support for new devices is being discontinued, apart from the ban in the operating system, you don't need anything extra. You only need this

Make a little bit more effort next time, there's no need to repeat matter that have been chewed over many times
