Question how can you add more street names in the map and/or in the navigation

    Hi.

How can you add more street names in the map during navigation and also while viewing the maps manually ? I barely see 3-4 street names and would like to see more. Even after zooming in (zooming out), I see fewer city / town names, which is annoying.

Is there any SYS.TXT variable for this purpose ?

Or is it unfortunately already fixed in the iGO application ?

    Thanks !

Well, let's say for a start you could halve the display resolution - enlarge the view in iGO software. It has already been written many times about how it is done

    Hi all

    @ lameriq

Did you try with this section in sys.txt ?

    [3d_config]
    disable_roadsign_navigation_mode=1

Names will be no more in rectangle boxes but above streets

He doesn't want that, he wants to see ALL the street names

I think this is not possible with iGO, it focuses on the driving and what is relevant to it. If you're really driving, you certainly don't have time to look at and touch the screen
Use GMaps or whatever for that, if you want a tourist guide

How can you add more street names
I think it will be better adding the section above... if not already present in his sys.txt

Hi guys. Thanks for the info.

So... @Boki ... this method (changing the resolution to a smaller one) should increase the number of displayed street/town names, when navigating or viewing maps ?

My phone has a resolution of 2400 x 1800, but I thought that the display size was automatically adjusted according to the DPI in iGO NextGen (on Android). So it's probably useless to change the resolution. The size will always be the same.

Of course I can change the resolution. But the question is whether the "data.zip" and "global.cfg" file will be able to work with it :). I hated the hassle of changing the iGO resolution to another due to non-existent resolutions in one or the other mentioned file :).

Does this really have any effect on the number of displayed street (or city) names?

Is there no entry for iGO Nextgen (Android) in SYS.TXT? I have gone through many different SYS.TXT configuration guides explaining the many items in this file. Some are related to these settings. But they probably belong to the old iGO - back then without the Primo edition.

    --------------------------------

Just to clarify what I want...

I don't want ALL streets and cities :D. Because it is unrealistic for it to fit on the iGO navigation display.

I want to see, for example, all surrounding (all nearest) villages / cities when I zoom the iGO map.

It happens to me that I can't really see the name of a small village even if the zoom is close enough to the city. I just need to see more names of streets or towns/municipalities.

I'll attach some screenshots where it's nice to see (I'll change my geolocation to something random, for my privacy). When I'm going to find a village, I don't see its name even if there is a lot of free space for INSERT street name or village/town name. I still only see the capital and an empty area with lines (with roads). It's really annoying. To zoom in on the map and follow only "lines" practically without marking the names of places:

global.cfg has almost nothing to do with your device's resolution and data.zip in NextGen is designed from the start to work with all types of resolution. iGO automatically adapts to your screen
Here I want to do the opposite, to fix and set a low resolution, because then the display will be larger and the names of the streets will be visible.

Otherwise, iGO by default shows only the main streets and those that are in focus (which is logical because otherwise you would have a forest of overlapping data on the screen). So displaying a lot of the streets is not possible without changing the code of the application itself.

And as for your screenshots - it can't show something that doesn't have a name or it is not in the map database.
Either change map provider or complain to him
But first check if there really are names of the streets in those rural areas and are they streets at all.

You didn't understand the screenshots @Boki.

The maps are fine. Slovakia is one of those HERE and TomTom maps, which is completely beautifully and detailed - as far as the names of roads, streets and cities are concerned. There are even locations of villages in the maps that sometimes did not even exist officially (for example, a village called Levkovce), but were already recorded in the maps.

This is the EXACT SAME GEOLOCATION in three screenshots:

    1. screenshot I zoomed in as the farthest. But not from space (universe) :D so the names of the villages should be visible. Villages can be seen (grey areas on the map). But I can't see anything :D - only colors and "lines".

    2. screenshot is already zoomed in just above the city, when the road is not yet displayed. However, the village can also be seen here. Sorry, no names. Just an empty colored area that doesn't resemble a map.

    3. screenshot is already zoomed in so that the road can be seen. Only in that case is the name of the village shown.

Maybe this wasn't even a good example of screenshots :-/. Because there are many similar cases. I manually browse the areas around the many places I want to drive to. I often see only lines - roads. But no names of towns and cities ! So I don't know at all which locations are involved. However, when I zoom in on the map quite closely, only then does the name of the village appear. But that's stupid, because even when zooming back 2x, when a single name of a village or street was not shown on the display, the names of the villages located there should have been shown even then.

Why? iGO is navigation software, a tourist guide is something else. Got the point?
