    help nuvi 58LM is working but not recognized by Computer

    Does anyone know what the problem is if the nuvi 58LM can't be recognized by the computer. It doesn't open a root for it and Garmin Express doesn't recognize it either.
    Garmin works normally. But I can't update it.
    When I connect it to the computer it goes into computer mode and then after 15 seconds it exits. Everything is fine with the computer because other navigations normally open the same USB cable I use, I tried to change the cable and nothing. I changed the USB ports, I have 3 of them on my computer. And it doesn't help. I think some file in the navigation is corrupt.
    Can it be fixed with this garmin Cure 3.

    Nuvi 55 never worked, it crashed when downloading the software on Garmin Express. It had some problem. While installing the software, it never booted the system. This Nuvi 58 is correct, everything works, but it has old maps. But the computer does not recognize it, nor does Garmin Express .I would prefer to patch it and insert the unlocked NTU maps, but I don't know if it's the same HWID, I can't see which software I know. Is it possible to see the HWID somehow differently except in the root of the device. And does anyone know if there is another Nuvi 58 with a different HWID. if not then I can solve it easily. In that case, I have to find a patch for the 350 software, and if it is the same as with all nuvi 57/58 HWDI, then it is 2087. But I would rather return it to normal state if possible, so I wonder if this cure 3 can solve the problem.

    The current software on nuvi 58 is 3.50 and not 4.60, does that matter when I make cure with 4.6 and insert them?Is it cure abdejt software.

    I tried to make cure for 4.60 software and I got an error. Cure and updater are in the same folder.I don't know what the problem is

    @diversola
    I'm unsure why you think the nuvi 58 is 'bricked'. You said it it works...right? So i'm guessing you mean it turns on, boots up and navigates normally. What i think you're meaning is that it doesn't have normal communication with a computer and can't be seen in Mass Storage Mode by Windows Explorer or GarminExpress, correct?

    When a device is (soft) bricked, it certainly means that MSM is unavailable however additionally it doesn't boot up when powered on. Typically either freezing on the logo splash screen, bootlooping or turning itself off before booting fully.

    So it may be that the USB connection is not good. Garmin devices (including and particularly nuvi 5x series) do have a weakness in the USB socket mounting which results in the soldered connections to the PCB cracking - the result being that either data connection or charging ability or even sometimes both of those functions are lost. Try connecting to PC and then gently move the plug connection in the device's socket to see if it's recognized. If it's only a loose socket it's not a difficult task to reflow the USB socket connections. There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to do that.

    I've tried everything. It's not the cable, it's not the USB port, since I connected others with the same cable and to the same USB port, I tried to move the cable and the socket, but nothing else. when I connect it to the computer, it goes into computer mode and after 15 seconds it ejects and boots the system.
    When it comes out of computer mode, there is a lightning symbol on the battery symbol, but then it changes to an exclamation point.
    The socket of the device on the charger works normally without interruption, and the lightning symbol is constantly on.

    Well regardless, the point is it's not soft-bricked so it means the problem is likely a more difficult hardware failure - a failing component on the PCB is my best guess.

    That can be lived with (provided the USB socket still allows it to charge) because you can add, overwrite or delete files and even complete folders using SD commands. Read this thread for how to do that: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. You can obtain updates of maps and other files from GarminExpress by using the device's GarminDevice.xml in a Garmin folder on a thumb drive or media card to make a clone of your device.

    Cure firmware is used exclusively on soft-bricked devices to re-enable Mass Storage Mode thus allowing for corrupt files to be deleted. A device is soft-bricked when it's unable to boot properly due to such a corrupt file not being able to be loaded by the system during the boot process (e.g. a map .img file, a voice .vpn file, a POI .gpi file, etc.). Your device is booting fully so cure firmware is worse than useless, it'd be counter-productive quite frankly. In any case a cure RGN file can't even be loaded because if there's a hardware fault preventing MSM then preboot will also not be attainable reliably.

    As for this:

    That 'error' was only because when you clicked the Updater.exe button, it can't run because it didn't see the device in preboot or maybe it's because of Windows UAC settings.
