Default request GUPDATE.GCD for GPSMAP 62S

    Hi

I have a dead GPSMAP 62S with Garmin LOGO showing all the times.

I can not force Storage mode by pressing UP and Connect USB cable to computer. It shows my device in Bascamp for only 10 seconds and gone.

i read and found that I have to use RGN_tool and Updater to do a low level update firmware to my 62s

but i can not find GUPDATE.GCD to convert to GUPDATE.RGN from anywhere.

if anyone can give me that file , It will be very appreciated. i have to play around to re-activate my 62s

    thank you

I tried those ways, Hard reset does not work. Force Storage Mode also didn't work until now I will try to do again. I just run RGN_tool and Updater today but I have only Gupdate.gcd from 66s , I cant find anywhere with 62s

You have been working on this since 2020 have you tried calling Garmin or taking the GPSMAP 62s to a local shop.

Seeing that you are not getting anywhere with what you are doing.

I also found this quote from you:

I flash the cure FW successfully with the quick pre-boot mode. but the device is still not seen by PC.

The pre-boot mode is held shortly during flashing FW and it disconnect.

It seems to be hardware failure.

    Thank you everyone for helping.

So what you are saying is it has a hardware failure or not??????

yes I email Garmin and I got the reply saying that GPSMAP62s is discontinue and out of guarantee and also finish customer service due to no spare part (but i think it's software problem)

i keep it in my drawer since that day until i have my new 66s so i try to re-birth 62s again if possible.

actually i am not sure that it's hardwear failure now. because i can patch QuickCure3.rgn successfully. but it cant be seen by pc. then i patch 7.2 firmware.rgn to it but i got error

i tried to work with this 62s on 2020 but i wasnt success so i kept it in my drawer. now i have 66s so i try to work with 62s again.

now i patch QuickCure3.rgn succesfully but i still cant see Storage Mode

then I patch 7.2 rgn to it but i got this error

    Spoiler: lot of text
    Code:

    Edit:

I patched QuickCure3.rgn successfully without error but my PC still can’t see it.

I then forced Storage Mode by UP+Connect USB , with CURE firmware 7.3 , it patched 100%. But finally return with UPDATED FILE CORRUPTED

    Try this utility:

    Spoiler: USBDeview v3.06

From a user on another forum:

In the 11 months since I've had my Oregon 650 it has consistently had problems when connecting to my PC. About 2 times out of 3 the PC (XP) would show the "USB Device not Recognized" balloon and require disconnecting and reconnecting. Sometimes just using a different USB port would fix the problem.

I recently discovered a utility called [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] which not only shows the current state of USB devices - it shows every USB device you ever connected to your machine! I discovered there were GPS devices (and all sorts of other things) that I haven't owned for years in there. I cleaned out (actually Uninstalled in USBdeview's terms) all the things I know I'll never reconnect, plus I removed ALL the Garmin devices. Next time I plugged in the 650, it installed the correct drivers, and it's been 100% successful at connecting ever since (ok, at least for 3 days). I wouldn't advocate doing this unless you know what you're doing, but really, it is fairly straightforward.

that is really good program as i can see that my computer USB port is working for Garmin USB Port for 20 Seconds then disconnecting.

now i dont know what to patch to my 62s to make it bootable.

i did Gupdate.rgn with HWID 1113 but no work
