Dear (new) member,

Please note that due to a major server incident on March 14, 2017, this forum has been restored to its state as it was on April 16, 2016. At present, all information posted between that date and March 16, 2017, has to be considered as being lost. This includes accounts created in this period.

Like he said, latest publicly available is V6.30. So V6.40 is presently only a factory-loaded firmware it seems although it might actually be the same as V5.30 which only has changes specific to DT71. However, the elusive V6.40 might also have some tweaks which result in loss of function if a downgrade is done, like what happened with compass problem in another dog-tracking device as reported here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

But be aware that you should dump at least region 14 and preferably regions 127 and 158 from your DT71 before going further. Although only rgn14 needs to be patched to use unlocked maps you should dump all associated regions. That way you may be able to flash V6.40 main firmware back if you have function problems with V6.30. Or you might like to try just with a patched rgn14 from your dump. You'll have to use the ramloader from V6.30 to dump regions and if there is some incompatibility between versions of it you might end up with a hard-bricked or dead device because rgn5 (the bootloader) is highly sensitive and it will be overwritten when using a different version of ramloader (boot.bin/Ldr.bin). I can help you further to make a hybrid firmware but everything will be entirely at your own risk because i can't test it first. I won't help you with actually patching because that's now contrary to this forum's rule 9 as per Post #2 above which is why Big Bang's Universal Firmware Patcher is no longer publicly posted here.
