My Route as the whole TomTom app have always worked. This seems to be a problem of your smartphone and its configuration. I had never any problems like that. The most important thing is the obb file, which has to be installed.

The obb-file is only required for the installation. This is not responsible for the use of TT and is completely unimportant.

I install the apk file first then copy over the obb you need that file so you can load up the maps and maybe other bits of the app might need it also.
