    Default IGo Primo 8 Not speaking Street Names

    Okay, I have looked through a lot of these threads and saw where someone posted the same problem, but never saw a fix for it. Can someone tell me how to get the GPS to speak the street names ?? My software info is as follows:

    Current System time: "2003-01-01 04:00:20"
    Build version: 9.6.13.267029
    Build configuration: Product--ARCHFAM
    OS version: 5.0

    The Sys file has the following info in it

    [tts]
    tts_buffer=131072
    tts_logics=3
    priority="HIGH"
    always_say_road_names=1
    announce_street_name=1
    expected_engine_delay=1400

    I would think that the number 1 after the equal sign means it is activated, but it does not work. I hope I explained this enough for an answer.

    Any help would be appreciated !!

    The questions remain: are there tts voices in content/voices? is a tts engine installed? Which engine? TTS or TTS Pro? Which voices? Nuance? Loquendo? ....

    G-ulash, there are tts voices in Content/voices but not sure they are installed......I am looking to find the other answers to your questions. It may take awhile but hang in there

    I'm sorry G-ulash, I went through everything I could find and I can't find the last questions that you are asking for. I did manage to find that the tts voice is installed and it is Susan. I selected that voice. When I turn off the GPS it won't stay on the screen long enough for me to see the about screen after I select it. This is about all that I can tell you. If you can't do anything from this info then I appreciate your help and time so far G-ulash.

    I just came from my truck and I was looking around on the GPS settings again. I found that TTS Voice Susan is available but, when I select her voice it won't stick. I also saw the option to use TTS Pro but it is greyed out so I can't select it. Hopefully this is more of the info you need.

    I was interrupted by the Air Conditioner repairman. The TTS Engine I think is 1.0. Okay I am done editing this message.

    you need Entry in Sys.txt
    ================
    [gps]
    location_net=1
    location_gps=1
    background_navigation=1
    skip_announce_errors=1
    accuracy_workaround=0

    if TTS grey, then you have no TTS voice (to choose from) . IMO a Problem with System->TTS-Engine (Samsung, Vocalizer,Loquendo...). check Language & input -> Text-to-Speech-Output
    here is the TTSEngine visible with voice example.

    If Test ok, then TTS-Voice can also be selected in the Menu if installed

    I think I am incline to agree with rondoan. I don't think that the system will announce street names when giving directions. I will however try the entries that rondoan mentioned. The entry TTS Pro is in the menu but it is greyed out so, I can't select it. I wonder if I can upgrade the IGo Primo software to make it work the way I want it too :-)

    Thanks go to G-ulash and rondoan for their time and effort with this.
