TTS_Speech_Doctor

An orthophonist for your GPS. It allows you to modify the pronounciations for certains abbreviations or words.

Main Features

For now, the following abbreviations are supported:

•Change "St" to "Street" instead of "Saint"
•Change "FM" to "Farm Road" instead of "F-M"
•Change "Dr" to "Drive" instead of "Doctor"
•Change "SR" to "State Road" instead of "Stage Road" (Jack & Jill & Samantha only)
•Change "Br" to "Business Route" instead of "Branch" (Jack & Jill & Samantha only)
•Change "Cl" to "Clinic" instead of "Close" (Karen & Lee only)
•Change "O" to "West" instead of "Oest" (Julie & Felix only)
•Change "Boul." to "Boulevard" instead of "Boul+pause" (Julie & Felix only)
•Change "HwY" to "Highway" instead of "H-W-Y" (Daniel & Emily only)
•Change "AuT" to "Highway" instead of "A-U-T" (Daniel & Emily only, French countries)
•Change "O" to "West" instead of "O" (Daniel & Emily only, French countries)
•Change "Boul." to "Boulevard" instead of "Boul+pause" (Daniel & Emily only, French countries)
•Change "Hov" to "H-O-V" instead of "Hove" (Jack & Jill & Samantha only)
•Change "WA" to "Washington" instead of "W-A" (Karen & Lee only)

Model Compatibility

TTSVoiceEditor has been tested on Garmin models:

•Nuvi 7x0, 255W, 260, 3x0, 6x0, 8x0
•Zumo
•StreetPilot C550 and 2730.
•StreetPilot C310, C340 and C510. Read this and that by Hornbyp.

It is NOT compabible with the following models:

•Nuvi 250W (this model does not support TTS voice)
•StreetPilot C320 (this model does not support TTS voice)




How-To
1- Start TTS_Speech_Doctor.
2- Open a VPM or RGN voice file (TTS type only)
3- Check the changes you want to apply to your VPM. You may click items on more than one tab.
4- Click "Patch & Save" to modify and save. This will overwrite the original file. Make sure to keep a backup of the original.
5- Copy it back to your Garmin in the Garmin/Voice directory

Troubleshooting

Are you missing the required OCX file?

Win98
The message probably says "Missing TABCTL32N.OCX. Make a search for it on Google and put it in the same directory as TTS_Speech_Doctor. You can also take it from any WinXP machine in the C:\Windows\System32 directory.

WinXP
The message says "Missing TABCTL32.OCX. Make a search for it on Google and put it in the same directory as TTS_Speech_Doctor.

Win Vista
Still not sure. Try these 2 commands where the files are found on your computer.... Then, retry TTS_Speech_Doctor.

regsvr32 /u /s tabctl32.ocx
regsvr32 /s tabctl32.ocx
