Hi steiny and catymag,
with android 4.4 google has restricted the write access of apps to sd card
This continues at android 5.0.
The apps can only write in their own folder.
I think the "right" folder for oruxmapsDonate at sd card should be:
/storage/sdcard1/Android/data/com.orux.oruxmapsDonate/files
And the folders:
/com.orux.oruxmapsDonate/files
should be created manually? at sd card.
After this you can try to copy your file structure with maps, tracklogs ...
under this folder. Maybe that works?
I am always at android 4.3.
I have no courage to cange my good running system ;-)
Ciao Hugo
I'll continue using Mapfactor Navigator with my android 4.4.2 as they store all their data to the external SD card.
Let me know when you implement this feature.
Thanks,
Dave

For Reference add the below text to the onlinemapsources.xml to activate google maps. File is located in oruxmaps/mapfiles folder. Just not sure how to download the files. but this does work from OruxMaps. Just tested it on the latest version.

steiny and hugo4 :
To have maps on extcard with oruxmaps, it's easy (tested with 4.1.2 and 4.4.2 without root).
1. After complete installation, you have to create a folder in extcard like that :
/storage/extsdcard/oruxmaps/mapfiles
2. in mapfiles, copy maps as you want.
3. Open the application.
4. In the right top corner, open the 3 points to have Global settings.
5. Open Maps.
6. Open Folder for maps and choose /storage/extsdcard/oruxmaps/mapfiles.
7. Close the application and reopen it.
Then you have to try the maps.
1. Open Maps (top right below the 3 points).
2. New map.
3. Offline
4. Only have to select a map.
That's all !
