What version does it currently has? You really don't need to upgrade if it's already running and it's not too old. Just get your latest maps in the map thread and see if it works first.
Hello all.
I am totally novice to this and I would appreciate some help.
I was given a gps system which has an 'igo primo' navigation software installed, and it seems to me that its OS is WinCE. I would like to upgrade the software and/or include recent maps for Turkey and Europe. Can anyone tell me how to start? I see so many different versions of software here and I am confused.
The device I am using is clearly a chinese device, which claims to be a 'Pioneer'.
Thank you

Just to expand on @osiris4isis reply, iGo maps work with iGo 8, Primo and NextGen. I would probably start by seeing how old your maps are (can check via the More->Help->About and then looking at the More->Content details).
If your maps are really old, then just find a download link for iGo maps for your contry and install them (replace the files in the "map" and "poi" directories).
If you want to update the actual software version (again, check that in the More->Help->About) and then look for a newer WinCE version (basically, WinCE Primo versions are 9.6.13 or earlier). I'd recommend version 9.6.13.405512 if sticking with Primo (which is my recommendation).
Here is a link for WinCE 9.6.13.405512 if needed:

Thank you for both replies. Here is an update since I created the post:
1. I connected it to the computer, and removed the folder 'Primo' from the internal storage (of course I kept a backup).
2. I downloaded the 'gpstruck' software from this forum. Unfortunately it is in Romanian language.
So my questions are:
1. Can I change the language without trying to find another version?
2. How will I upgrade WinCE?
3. How are the maps installed? I suppose it should be simple.
4. What is the difference with igo nextgen?
One more clarification. This GPS is to be used by a friend of mine, who is a professional truck driver and travels across Europe and Turkey. So with this in mind which is the more appropriate software for him?
Thank you
Is this device a car radio (2DIN or similar) or is it a dedicated, standalone GPS unit. From the sounds of it, it's a dedicated GPS unit...
You should be able to change the language via the iGO menus, assuming you can figure out where it is (since you probably can't read the menus!). Another option is to download the app from the link I provided above. It will default to English (and is also the specific version I recommend for your uses).
There really is no way (or need) to upgrade WinCE itself. It's most likely WinCE 5.0, which is fine for iGo.
To upgrade the maps, find them on this site, download them and then replace the current "map" and "poi" folders with the versions in the download.
iGo NextGen is the newest version of iGo, but in my opinion, it's still not ready for "prime time". I find iGo Primo to be much better - especially on WinCE.
So stick with Primo (again, I'd recommend the version from my link above - it's the newest version of WinCE and is proven to be very stable). I *believe* that this version is also the "truck" version. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong there since I'm not very familiar with the truck stuff. I think that you just need to select the car type as "Truck"? Would love someone to clarify this for me (and the OP!).

Thanks again.
Yes this is a standalone unit.
Tried to use the language files from your download and they seem to work fine.
A couple more questions:
1. Where can I find other languages and voices?
2. How can I tell which maps are already installed?
3. What is the version of igo you gave me?
Thanks again
1. You should be able to find other languages and voice files here on the forum somewhere.
2. Like I said above, go to More->Help->About. Then open the More menu on the bottom of the screen, select Content and then select Maps. It will show all of the installed maps and the date of the maps.
3. Like I said above, it's iGo Primo 2.4, version 405512 (actual version number is "9.6.13.405512") - can be seen in More->Help->About. This is a really good version of Primo (there are a LOT of versions floating around out there - this is one of the newest for WinCE, if not the newest, and is very stable).
Hope that helps.
