It should generate by the unit every time turn on GPS unit. No need to copy from other.
Anyway, Garmin express also bring back necessary files.
Hi Folks,
Accidently lost mine garmindevice.xml along with all the content of internal memory.
Can anyone owns 2497LMT please share his garmindevice.xml file? I would very appreciate
Please feel free to remove a "delicate" information (as serial number) off it.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I did not realize it should be re-created.
But anyway, by some reason I don't see it anymore even though device is connected and mounted as drive I see the only clean 8GB drive.
Express also says no device connected
have you formatted it?
You have to navigate to get to the good.
Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600
No, I did not format it. I just was writing files into its internal memory (no onto SD), then there has been a short outage. After it I have an almost break on my hands
If I have USB cable plugged in, nuvi starts booting, shows connection icon (white tower linked with navigator), then it appears in the windows explorer as a drive. But drive is empty. Completely. No .System, nothing.
If I start it without cable, it shows splashscreen "Garmin" forever
Create in it a Garmin folder and restart nuvi, it should create garmindevice.xml in folder.

He wrote he has nothing in nuvi drive, neither Garmin folder.

Yes...but he writed:It's strange because also no in Mass Storage the folder Garmin (and other folders) is visible...however....then it appears in the windows explorer as a drive. But drive is empty. Completely. No .System, nothing
Hi guys,
Thanks for your answers.
I created empty xml and restarted the device, I see the xml still in there and still empty. I'm baffled a bit. Might it be sort of permissions problem?
And to clarify: I put the device into mass storage mode right after purchasing, and it seem still in mass storage after outage, because connection icon is white (not amber as it was for MTP).
