Hello Dear Sirs
I'm fairly new.
Would like to ask for your expert help about my Garmin Nuvi 1450. Basically, I accidentally formatted it (FAT) so it doesn't boot anymore. It's basically stuck at the Garmin logo.
Is there anyway I can fix the device? When I tried updating the device to a newer firmware, the PC cannot detect the Nuvi.
I'm running out of ideas.
Please do help... Garmin is charging me 110 USD for the repair. :crying:
Much Thanks for future replies!
You have to navigate to get to the good.

I just got a defective 1450 I think. I cannot get it to boot and when plugged in to my pc just keeps restarting. I dont seem to be able to get it into a pre boot mode. What can I do?
Try this for pre-boot mode.
Load garmin drivers from Garmin.com
With GPS off and not connected to anything.
Start updater.exe on the PC, Connect usb cable to the pc but not to the nuvi.
Place and hold your finger on the top left hand corner of the touch screen.
Now plug in USB cable into the Nuvi.
After a while you should here a sound from the PC and see your nuvi in Updater.exe
If your Nuvi can start to the main menu.
See post below by Catymag.
If it cannot start to the main menu try above.

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.
Albert Einstein.
With 1xxx series is usually easier to go to Diagnostic menu: battery symbol - on main screen (hold 6 seconds) then plug it USB with Updater opened, ready to flash.

If you have SD card in nuvi remove it.
Install usb drivers from Garmin site
Open updater and add dot beside USB
Add finger in upper left corner of screen and hold
With other hand connect nuvi to PC
When you see in updater window your nuvi number pres OK and you can flash.
p.s.
You must use garmincure tool to create FW for flashing.
Are these the correct drivers?

Ok, thanks. I'll try this when I get home today.
This is my first Garmin device. When you hold your finger in the top left corner what should the loading look like?
