    @FireFox58
    I get same result, it seems that different HWIDs are being detected in boot.bin and fw_all.bin by GarminCure3.exe. Maybe try using QuickCure. If that won't work you could make the cure fw yourself, quite easy by batch particularly if you know what single type of file is the problem e.g *.img or *.gpi etc. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Normally only boot and fw_all bins need patching.

    GarminCure3 doesn't work because:
    1) It tries to patch section region 0x55, which should contain executable code like 0x0E, but it's format is unknown.
    2) It misdetects section region 0x08 HWID, as it has some data after the end-of-region marker.
    I've patched the RGN manually (while stripping regions 0x05 and 0x55):

    Thanks Neil and kunix for the effort.
    The device seems definitely dead, my friend says, "it emits sounds for 5/6 seconds, and then nothing more, no longer even connects to the PC by pressing and hold the Menu button".
    The Garmin Service Center is its destination.

    Hi Caty.
    I don't know, I will ask him.
    He says he get a "missing software" message on screen, and then starts ringing

    System software missing can be symptomatic of more than one problem, the worst software cause being that the device was flashed with the wrong boot.bin used in a forced 'out' RGN or wrong ldr.bin in SD pack. Even so, doesn't mean it's not recoverable but might need some of kunix's magic.

    Best to find from your friend exactly what he did if he's attempted a recent flashing and get a copy of the files he used. If he claims it happened spontaneously without him doing anything then it's likely damaged flash.

    Hi Neil,
    Just that he says have happened: spontaneously
    I believe that the device has a corrupt Flash.
    Tomorrow i hope to have some other news

    EDIT:
    no Garmin Logo appears, only "software missing" despite the Update is successful
