I think is easy to do a NVbackup and its perfectly explained ,but all files have the same time and date as i created in the memory.
I will do a very little video because is incredible.Sorry again
You mustnt find any archive, but just your region 41_backup-bin-
NV backup is not the backup of files of Nuvi, but the NonVol memory backup,it contains Nuvi ID, all the maps codes, probably your Nuvi registration date on myGarmin and first satellite fix etc. Everything is in reg 41,all in these few bytes.
Anyway, better you dont do anything weird till you havent understood what are you doing.
Better you keep your 3790 and you read something else and learn at least the abc of these stuffs or you risk to brick your Nuvi
EDIT: added a note about what NV backup means in post 337
You have to navigate to get to the good.

Caty, this is almost OT, sorry, but i think important. NV backup is such an vital recovery tool and unfortunately is still not widely known of, used and even less properly understood (and potentially misused although with good intention, as in the case earlier on this page but dangerously misused nonetheless though lack of understanding). Good you've added extra info to post #337 to help stop that and i know it's listed in the Tutorials Index but it's a bit hidden away under 'Modding' near the bottom. Do you think it's important enough to have it's own sticky, or maybe be a bit more prominent in the Tuts, perhaps even both?
PS: It's showing as 'Post #338' in the Tut index too, moved back coz of a deleted earlier post here maybe.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] should make their first post as a new Intro Thread in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
Yes probably you're right.
I can copy it in a new thread and naturally correct the link in index-
I think it can be misused if users share it, and for this it's important to make users understand what it's inside region 41, I agree
But first of all we must make users understand to do it before flashing anything different from the official Nuvi model dedicated software update file ...... may be the official one too sometimes
done, new link

I'm glad that at least my misfortune has served to update the post, I'm sure I'm not the only one with these difficulties, rather look foolish asking but at least I will not stand idly by, I feel confident with the support of you.
Believe me I've read a lot but for some reason it does not work.
When i dwnld new maps for my modded nüvi, the 34xx uses the SID-Folder and the original 37xx uses the G2S+DB? Am i right?
Thank you,
yes i have a .db file provided by the new maps too, but that one is much smaller than the one that probably goes with the g2s file on the 37xx.
