This is a Raster map (images) and therefore it can only be used with Basecamp or a modern GPS that is able to show Raster maps.
Mapsource can only show vector maps.
Is this map supposed to be displayed on a Garmin eTrex Vista HCx device? This device is listed as compatible to this map on the Garmin site, but I can see only empty map tiles on my Vista HCx with a few dots (landmarks) only. I'm wondering if the compatibility information is inaccurate and this device is incompatible. From what I have read on other forums, this is not a vector map and that might be the problem with the Vista HCx? Any confirmation will be appreciated. Thanks!

You are right - Garmin has made a mistake here: eTrex xxx HCx are definitely NOT compatible. Works only on newer outdoor devices with microSD slot.
Note that on the other hand Oregon models 200, 300 and 400 are also not (no more?) listed by Garmin although they are compatible (same applies to Alpenvereinskarten)...

AFAIK eTrex vista HCx and eTrex Legend HCx aren't able to show raster maps. I think it's wrong, that Garmin shows them on the list of compatible devices.
