It's not so new method of entering unlock keys. This interface came with MapSource v6.14.1 as of July 18, 2008. It makes the same job as the earlier "Unlock Wizard".
As always it's just an interface to put the unlock keys into registry keys. All your Garmin unlock keys are stored at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Garmin\MapSource\Codes". There's a check-sum control that validates the possible correctness of the key before it's accepted by the "Map Product Manager".
Open a MS-DOS command prompt and execute:
"Map product not installed" is just exactly what it says. The best way is to put a comment when entering keys and that way you would know what product you have uninstalled. Otherwise you can open the entry and check the 25 character code with the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
Unlock keys remains until you delete them. They aren't deleted when you uninstall or upgrade a map to newer version with another MapID.
If there's another user account on the same computer one can copy and export the registry "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Garmin\MapSource\Codes" to a REG-file. Then it's just to import that file for the other user account. That could easily be made more or less automatically by a script.
This is also possible to do with the "Export ..." button in "Map Product Manager". Good for backup or transfer to another user account.
Garmin unlock keys aren't for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and all users so the need to be in the registry for every user account who needs them.
