It's not so new method of entering unlock keys. This interface came with MapSource v6.14.1 as of July 18, 2008. It makes the same job as the earlier "Unlock Wizard".
As always it's just an interface to put the unlock keys into registry keys. All your Garmin unlock keys are stored at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Garmin\MapSource\Codes". There's a check-sum control that validates the possible correctness of the key before it's accepted by the "Map Product Manager".

Open a MS-DOS command prompt and execute:
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
"Map product not installed" is just exactly what it says. The best way is to put a comment when entering keys and that way you would know what product you have uninstalled. Otherwise you can open the entry and check the 25 character code with the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Unlock keys remains until you delete them. They aren't deleted when you uninstall or upgrade a map to newer version with another MapID.

If there's another user account on the same computer one can copy and export the registry "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Garmin\MapSource\Codes" to a REG-file. Then it's just to import that file for the other user account. That could easily be made more or less automatically by a script.
This is also possible to do with the "Export ..." button in "Map Product Manager". Good for backup or transfer to another user account.
Garmin unlock keys aren't for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and all users so the need to be in the registry for every user account who needs them.

The only downside for me in using the unlock map reverser is it creates an extra mapset and takes up more room. You need to be careful which mapset to remove from your system. The latest map reverser version is 4.2 and the developer is screening people before he allows them to download now because he claims it was being used for illegal purposes.
However, the simplicity of using the ALL. Bat file and the fact you can make a fully transferrable unlocked .img file is phenomenal. I will use this method until it's no longer possible.

I have it dowloaded and I have it unlocked in mapsource but how to I get this new 2011 map on my nuvi 200 and 260w? I cannot figure out how to transfer this to it's memory to update my 2008 version on the units themselves. When I run update map on the unit it keeps telling me to select a map but I cannot figure what to do from here. I have selected it and said transfer to unit and it just keeps coming back select map to upload to unit. Man am I confused. It was a lot easier for the marine units ! Can someone explain the steps to get the new 2011 North American map on my nuvi's please. Sorry for my ignorance I am just confused as hell...

    regards,

You have to use the "Map Tool" (you should see the button in toolbar) to select the area(s) in the map image.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] should help if you still having issues.

It appears that the UNLocked version of the gmapsupp.img of this post is missing maps, Hawaii - to be specific Honolulu and Kapaa, HI, and perhaps others and there is a size difference of 2.2 mb so there may be more discrepancies than I have found so far. 1,388,937.216 MB Locked vs. 1,386,741.760 MB Unlocked so be aware... Now I am getting why Locked is the way to go...

I'd also like to get the .ASR and .SRX files (normally located in the ASR folder) for this release. My application is for a Kenwood DNX9960, but it uses the same files as other voice controlled Garmin units. This Kenwood unit originally came with 2010.10 and Kenwood/Garmin have yet to release newer maps for it. I was able to upgrade manually to 2011.10 with ASR files and it works perfectly, but there are a few errors in the maps that I hope .30 has addressed.

Good question, I'm not sure which model they came from. Here are the 2011.10 ASR files and sizes I have if this helps:

    01XS2BR4.SRX 1.6MB
    01XS2BR5.ASR 45KB
    01XS2BR6.ASR 1.02GB <--- much larger
    01XS2BR7.ASR 113.4MB

I did see that 2011.20 files were available, but I didn't bother with that release because the ASR files are about 1/2 the size of the 2011.10 files I have. It seems there are at least two different sets of ASR files, the larger set seems to include the necessary data to understand Canadian cities and street names. I know this because when I first got my DNX9960 with 2010.10 map, the ASR files were also about half the size. With that release I had to search for addresses with the keyboard, but after I upgraded to 2011.10 (with the much larger ASR files) I magically was able to search Canadian addresses with voice commands. Since I'm living in Canada this is a pretty important to me.

It looks like those looking for ASR, SRX, JCV files should state which unit they have as they are different files for different units.

If the ASR (for 2011.30) files do not show up soon, be aware that 2011.20 and its ASR files (at least for my 885T unit) are around with the correct ASR directory files so at least you can get one step up from where you are... Sad that your unit has not had anything since that aged release. Also, curious if your ASR files are from the 8xx set for 2011.10 or the 37xx set, please?
