I am still using Mapsource 6.16.3 to create .img files for my very-old Garmin. Will I have a better (faster I mean) map using Basecamp?
Tks

You have to navigate to get to the good.

As Caty says, use BaseCamp/Mapinstall to generate new .img to be on the safe side. this [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] excellent tool gives a larger window so that you can see what to select much better.
MapSource is in my opinion much better (easier to handle, faster, smaller, more intuitive) for viewing maps and making routes and also for sending the routes to the gps. Never had any problem with that.
@Smulan
Problems has been reported on forum with routing and with address search in CN imgs made with MS recently.
Additionally in some zones MS crashes building a route.

But the best way to check of map is the MS in anycase. I am always make mapset on MS and after compare it with log from MapInstall created file. BaseCamp and MapInstall is absolutely not friended to user. I had a many mistake after BaseCamp and MapInstall what contain missed subfiles. These program are very limited in search, copy-paste and operation on data tabs...
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
