Awhile ago, I found a torrent for the Mapsbank U.S. and Australia topos on one of the major torrent sites.
This torrent directed you to a fake Piratebay site where you were then directed to make a text message contact for access to the files.
Not liking then feel of this setup, I went on an extensive search for a torrent that gave better access to these files.
After a long search, I finally found a freely accessible set of these maps on, what to me was, an obscure Russian torrent site.
I was able to download the entire 7.82GB folder containing 3 Australian maps, [mentioned here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] ] and 53 U.S. maps [a few of which are mentioned here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] ], a total of 56 maps.
I have installed 3 of them on my PC.
They are compatible with Garmin BaseCamp and should be uploadable to Garmin GPSs.
The torrent I downloaded them from is no longer active.
I'm thinking of setting up another torrent to make these maps available to others that might be interested in them.
I do not remember seeing any files here available through torrents.
As far as I can see, this has too many files and is too large a package to put onto a file hosting site.
Are torrents acceptable here?
Any thoughts?
