I've never tried the generic ones and i was afraid they wouldn't be as good of a fit...like so many other generic fasteners, clips, mounts, etc, if you know what i mean. I guess for $2 I'll give it a try. thanks for the tip.

Yeah, i can't pass up on a lot of junk, especially things that are only a few dollars. I always figure i can play with it for a few hours and that will be its value to me like a $20 puzzle. i've spent more money on other things i get less playtime out of than this gps. ..a pull of a handle at the slots, for example. :D

They always fit the genuine bracket but sometimes are a tight fit ... i'll stop there.

A kindred spirit. Much worse things you can spend your money on, like slots [don't say it with a Kiwi accent].

LOL! And also my age group apparently, unless that reference to the old-time one armed bandits is just a metaphor ...... 'a push of a button at the slots' doesn't have the same ring to it at all.

so i finally got the generic mount and you were right, it works okay for my needs which will probably be for holding it to the windshield of a friend's car.

Yeah, we're probably the same age. so hard to tell sometimes on the internet but there are usually some clues. It's scary sometime when i think of all the things/tech that have come and gone entirely within my lifetime. VHS and Beta, now DVD and Blueray are just about gone. color crt tv's, cassette music tapes, the entire history of wired internet/arpanet. Actually being there and living through (and using) the internet before WWW and watching it grow into what it is today which includes this forum. The earlier versions might be BBS and usenet. I used to read usenet religiously, and these days most ISP's don't even have NNTP servers. My ISP finally gave up their in-house NNTP servers 6-7 years ago and not surprisingly the price didn't come down. I'm sure some of these gps' will be sitting on top of my betamax VCR before long. time rolls on.

I've been thinking about BBRY stock. that's where i might blow my next $23. I'm afraid this might turn into another APPL cinderella story that slips out of my grasp. APPL made more than a few millionaires out of those who bought in when they slumped to $6 and now at least 3 splits later.... If not, i can put the certificates in a box with the TI calculators.
