Garmin GPSMap 78SC

Hi, I hope this the right spot to post my question. I just got a Garmin GPSMap 78sc. I have some garmin maps on a micro sd card, USTopo 100v5, Canada HXCA015R 2015 the G2 version. My garmin recognizes these no problem. They are saved on the SD cards in a dir garmin\gpmapsupp.img.I also have HXUS039R US and Canada West Coast G2 version saved as garmin\gpmapsupp.img. When I try to access this on my GPSMap 78sc it says can't unlock map. How do I go about unlocking this to using this on my GPS? I can access this in Homeport no problem. The GPS has Worldwide DEM Basemap, NR, US Marine Detail g2 and TOPO US 100k v5 enabled. I'd also like to use Garmin's Lakes on in this also. Thanks, Jim

HomePort like BaseCamp will see both locked and unlocked img files. Seems like your other maps/charts that are recognized by your device are either unlocked or are official img files unlocked only to the SD they were purchased on. However maybe HXUS039R is not unlocked. You can try unlocking it with gimunlock, you'll find a link behind the spoiler in initial post here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. You can also check if the img files are locked or unlocked using GMapTool:

Hi, I can actually see HXUS039R in Homeport using a micro SD card and an adapter. This is the 2012 version. I just downloaded the 2013 version which is supposed to be unlocked.
We'll see. The other thing that I'm trying to do is combine a bunch of gmapsupp.ing into one gmapsupp.img. I tried doing it in GMap Tool. Said there were errors. I have Garmin US LakesVu HD v16.50. The Dir contains gmapsupp.gma, 3kb, gmapsupp.img 10kb, gmapsupp.unl GUPDATE.GCD 832,569kb, LakeVu100C.img 402,320kb plus 14 more img files with different letters after the LakeVU. I'd like to get all the img files combined. Homeport will show one img file at a time. Thanks, Jim
