Car How to update RNS310 / RNS 315 Western Europe

    Hello,

With the lose of a lot of thread, I recreate one with all I have do on a french forum.

Thanks to every person who helped on the initial thread. I don't remember who created the original one.
For the datas, thanks to Uglekislorod who uploaded them.

Small tutorial to update your RNS 310 or RNS 315 with two USB sticks and a memory card Samsung EVO+ micro SD with adapter SD 32 or 64 GB.

Let us now turn to serious matters.

Attention, it is not possible to do this with any computer. A non exhaustive list is given at the bottom of the post.
This method, although based on a 64-bit Ubuntu can be used on a 32-bit or 64-bit PC.
The SD card reader must be plugged internally into a PCI. We'll check it out first.
In addition, all EVO + memory cards do not work. I had to test 6.

Some small downloads to do before anything else:
    Create your ubuntu USB key:
    Spoiler: url
    http://unetbootin.github.io/

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS x64 modified to be able to recover the memory card after having used it for new updates:
    Spoiler: url

Western Europe map V9 for the RNS RNS 310:
    Spoiler: url
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_phdw09DfsGRC1HOVhNZXFlRnM/view

It is a torrent. Download only the file RNS310_V9_WestEurope
Unzip it and copy the cryptnav folder to the second USB key

Western Europe Map V9 for the RNS RNS 315:
    Spoiler: url
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_phdw09DfsGTU5ZMGZ4M2VsLWM/view

It is a torrent. Download only 5 RNS.rar files
Unzip it and copy the navpsf_update folder to the second USB key

Tools to modify the CID of your card:
    Spoiler: url
    http://www107.zippyshare.com/v/VThr3r2n/file.html

Once everything is downloaded, unpack the archive CID.rar
Only the VW folder will be useful. Copy it to the second USB stick

Launch unetbootin and create a bootable USB flash drive from the Ubuntu ISO downloaded earlier on the first USB flash drive.

During the creation of the bootable USB key:
Create a text file and copy all the commands to launch, it will avoid the wrecks (they are blue underneath)
Once this file is complete, copy it to the second USB key

Your Ubuntu USB key is complete and the second key is ready (Text file, CID folder and cryptnav / navpsf_update folder present)
    Unplug the second USB key.
Restart the PC on the USB key and choose Try Ubuntu Without install

Once Ubuntu has started, pass the keyboard in French, it will be more fun:
In the left bar, click on the System Settings and then on Text Entry, add french and delete english
Plug the second USB stick and copy the VW folder to the Ubuntu desktop.
    Open the text file
Then open the VW folder on the desktop, right click (on the folder but not on a file) and choose open in terminal

We would start by checking whether the PC is able to make the CID modification and the SD card lock:
    Switch to root mode:
    sudo -s

    Type the command:
    df
The memory card must appear in / dev / mmcblk***
If it appears in / dev / sdc**, then this PC will not allow you to continue.

We will now check if the IDC of the card can be modified:
    Command :
    ls -l /sys/block | grep mmc

    This will work normally if:
    .../mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0:0001/block/mmcblk0
    Will not work if:
    …/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0:59B4/block/mmcblk0

If you have the right SD card, then we will check that it is in FAT32 or format it if it is not.
Click the first icon on the left bar and type "Disks" in the search bar.
Start Disks and do the necessary if the SD card is not in FAT 32

Next, copy the cryptnav (RNS 310) or navpsf_update (RNS 315) folder to the memory card. It should be around 5.15 GB
When the copy is complete, return to the terminal.

    Read the current CID:
    Command :
    cat /sys/block/mmcblk0/device/cid

If you are on a 64 bits system, use all the mmc64 commands. If you are on a 32 bits system, replace mmc64 by mmc32 in the next steps

Before using the mmc64 tool, you must modify its rights:
    Command :
    chmod -c 777 mmc64

    Modify the CID:
    For the RNS 310:
    Command :
    sudo ./mmc64 prog_cid /dev/mmcblk0 094150414620534402107e426c010b00
    For the RNS 315:
    Command :
    sudo ./mmc64 prog_cid /dev/mmcblk0 5d53424c32424d31013917ca53010400
Here are the two lines you should see:
    Writing new CID
    Success! Remove and reinsert CID.

Remove the memory card and reinsert it there.
Verify that CID rewrite has worked:
    Command :
    cat /sys/block/mmcblk0/device/cid

If the CID displayed is: 094150414620534402107e426c010b** or 5d53424c32424d31013917ca530104**
So let's go on. Otherwise, try rewriting but if the problem persists, try another card, it may be in mmc: 0001, it is not 100% guaranteed that the CID can be modified.
If you are doing the update for an RNS 310. Go to your GPS. Do not lock the card.

Now lock the card (only for RNS 315):
Warning, if you lock it, only a nokia mobile phone listed below or the following procedure will allow you to unlock it but formatting compulsory.
    Command :
    sudo ./mmc64 lock_sd /dev/mmcblk0 C99A20843ED7D90B6801E49F2BC80277
If all is ok, you will have this message :
    SEND_STATUS response: 0x0000900

That's it, all you have to do is update your GPS.
Go put the memory card in your GPS and start the update.

Once the operation is complete, your card is not lost. You'll unlock it.
But unfortunately, it will have to be formatted. But it does not matter, you downloaded the update to be able to do this on another GPS or for a future update.
If the PC is still under ubuntu, in the terminal:
    Comand :
    sudo -s
    Then
    Command :
    echo erase> /sys/bus/mmc/devices/mmc0*/lock
    The following message should display:
bash: echo: write error: Connection timed out

All you have to do is eject the card physically, reinsert it and format it using the Ubuntu Disks tool.

Do not hesitate if you discover new PCs and new phones: tablets allowing this manipulation to transmit it to me to make live this post.

I hear, that this site went under criminal investigation, because all this solutions can be used as money print for sellers ... and some other sites also...
If there will be someone to promote copyright violations will be banned and and everything will be deleted again...
