You have to format the SD card with Ubuntu.
The card is not usable only with the erase command.
All you did before was ok ?
Does Disk Utility see the SD card ?
Did you try to format with ubuntu Disk utility ?

It's possible if you can modify the CID.
Only the probability of having a compatible EVO+ card varies depending on the model. It's up to you to try and tell us.

Hi, Im new to this forum...

I succesfully done this update process with this Samsung mmc.
    Also i used:
Acer Travelmate 3020 to programming and locking the card (it has pci-card reader).
Nokia C6-00 unlocked the locked card with no problem.

I tried to use that modified 16.04 ubuntu, but the travelmate doesnt like it (maybe because the 64bit ubuntu is not supported by that laptop?)... to unlock card (luckily i found old c6-00 in my junk-box)

    Default A small contribution

    Abstract:
In my case, if I want to work instruction mmc I can not copy and paste, should be written.

    My situation is:
Computer Asus U3 Series with "ubuntu-16.04.1-desktop-amd64-custom_gpspower.iso" installed.
    Bought the card 07-04-2017
Samsung EVO 64 micro SDXC UHS-I Card with SD adapter

Just above the bar code says:
    Model MB-MP64D Model code MB-MP64DA/EU

In the last row of the left column says:
    Made in Korea
    The original CID is:
    1b534d303030303010cc605f2f010800
Date of manufacture 08-2016 according to CID

I followed the tutorial change CID using the mmc downloaded from the second post here:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

It is the third card I buy, the other that did not work were EVO + made in Philippines.

All steps have worked well but the instruction:
    sudo ./mmc prog_cid /dev/mmcblk0 094150414620534402107e426c010b00
    gave as a result:
CID should be 32 chars long! Two chars are one hex byte
    : Success
    And Cid was not changed

Desperate finally I tried to write the instruction manually instead of copying and pasting
instead of manually copying and pasting as I had done before.
I did it for convenience and safety of not being wrong.
Now the result was different, as he told me
    Writing new CID.
Success! Remove and Reinsert SD card to check new CID.

Indeed CID has changed I have verified several times as is hard to believe.

To be sure of what I say in this post I did a check with another card
EVO+ de 32 GB MB-MC32DA/EU made in Philippines with an initial CID
    1b534d303030303010588d5d1c010c00
As you can see is made from 12-2016 and the CID can not be changed with the current tools

If I copy and paste the command:
    sudo ./mmc prog_cid /dev/mmcblk0 094150414620534402107e426c010b00
    The result is:
CID should be 32 chars long! Two chars are one hex byte
    : Success
    But Cid is not changed

    Now I write by hand
    sudo ./mmc prog_cid /dev/mmcblk0 094150414620534402107e426c010b00
    The result is:
    ioctl: Connection timed out
Failed to enter vendor mode. Genuine Samsung Evo Plus?

As you can see the result is different.

    Conclusion:
    DONT COPY-PASTE THE COMMAND
    sudo ./mmc prog_cid /dev/mmcblk0 094150414620534402107e426c010b00
WRITE IT VERY CAREFULLY AND PATIENCE

I hope it will be useful

    Best regards

Sorry, but it is bullshit what do you say here !

You did not include all 32 characters - that's why you received this message:
"CID should be 32 chars long! Two chars are one hex byte"
You've made a mistake and now you advise others to do too?!

Sorry, but this is not usefull...exactly the opposite!

I do a lot of changes CID and use passwords daily.
I never manually transcribing CID or password !

Never do transcribing, especially not with passwords !
It brings a very high probability of bugs !
Always use only copy and paste !

    regards

    Default No bullshit

    clouseau22

I am sure that this forum is to exchange experiences so I expose the mine.
You are more expert than me and if this can be said for the experience but I also experienced

I like to respect people and I do assure you that no case of not respect the opinions of others.
Maybe with your computer, your configuration, your mmc and your knowledge things are different
but in the situation described the result is what I've written.
Have you done the verification of what I say before answering me so forcefully?

Anyway, if someone copy and paste and it has the answer
CID should be 32 chars long! Two chars are one hex byte
    : Success
can do what I say in my post and will have a new opportunity. I'm sure more than one will bring in profit.

    Cordially

My experience is exactly the opposite of yours.
I help to many peoples with their problems outside of this forum every day.
Many of them did not use copy - paste, but transcribing.
They received the same message about the wrong number of characters.
I also received a several times when I made the password from the CID
    - always, when I received an incomplete CID from someone.

So, now you explain for as, what is the difference in these two commands:

    sudo ./mmc prog_cid /dev/mmcblk0 5d53424c32424d31013917ca53010400
    sudo ./mmc prog_cid /dev/mmcblk0 5d53424c32424d31013917ca53010400

One command I have transcribed manually and the second one I copied.
Do you know which is which ?! Ubuntu knows which is which ?!

    I'm pretty sure - it's bullshit!

PS : if your ubuntu is a hidden intelligence version, then I apologize and ask for a copy :-)
