I said it before and here it is again: A forum is much more than just having material for "piracy." And my observation show as many new users reading posts as before. But it remains to be seen if those new users will return. If you need "fresh" contents for your area, feel free to find alternatives (another forum, another proggy) If you don't like new policy take complaint to those companies (it has nothing to do with the forum)

This forum is called "GPS Power" not "GPS Piracy", don't be silly with the argument* about why we are here if not just to "steal" proggy. People go to forum to discuss issues and fixes not just to "steal" proggy. And I don't lobby anything, I follow rules (and so should you since you agreed to it when first joined) Companies doesn't care about "law is not equal for all", they care if YOU break the law or not. It's like I run traffic light but everyone also does it so I shouldn't be fined? Know the different between a law and being caught. Forum was "caught" with breaking the law, so now it conformed to it or risked being shutdown. Man, why are you people so thick and don't understand this simple concept? If you are so concerned with wanting to pirate/steal, open your own forum.

    * from the mind of the "suggar" (or perhaps the sugar) argument, which by the way why not "borrow" it from a different neighbor?

Piracy is the engine of progress because it based on reverse engineering! Garmin is a very closed company for user convenience. Even if you want to change unknown word in text of menu you do not have any chance to get Garmin official help!
I remember the time when Russian user did not have opportunity to use the one of letters in keyboard on Nuvi 1xxx. Garmin fixed this issue at one year. Only piracy sites could to help user because piracy is not trivial operation in compare with official soft usually. This forum was the leader! There was not bla-bla-bla and links. Only wise guidance took place. So bad or good experience took place for founders and advanced user. If you search for not being caught you must go to Garmin official forum and bla-bla-bla there. But you do not know what is Garmin device obviously! Caty knew it at the level of a deity! I was surprised that woman is more advanced than you for example...

Well all I hear/see is people complaining about this and that and no serious input, everybody wants to take and not give.
I've been a member coming on 6years and I have been here EVERY DAY "except when I go off on Holidays looking for Gold/Precious Rocks and general country traveling and very little Phone or Internet access" and I came here to see IF I could find a more detailed map to use in my Mapping Software, and to this day no better maps have come up, not even Hema can supply a better map. the 2010/2012/2014/2016 maps really don't hack it. the original NatMaps I purchase way back then is still current for my State.
So you may say why am I still here after checking out all these maps humm, because is good to chat to other people around the world over issues, and the only Member that knew about the maps I was using was Downunder35 and he has'nt been around for over 12 months now, oh well members come and go.
As alot of members here that just want to LEECH files and proggies.
    Da Mags.

Your post show lack of understanding and common sense. Your jibberish nonsense started in Garmin and you're trying to spread it here. I see from your vast experiences in your replied/posts (and your joined date) that you are indeed "king of the hill." But hill of what? This is TomTom section so stick to discussing TomTom topics (which I doubt you know very much; I would say much less than your "vast" knowledge of Garmin *sic*) The trouble started coming when there was massive amount of maps (not changed/cracked) that was being posted (some even before publicly released/sold.) Even though the maps were not changed, they are copyrighted. It's the meta file* which are the key (without them the maps are worthless) But that doesn't matter since according to copyright LAW, you can't post them without consent. Tools (made by reverse engineering) such as extracting/building voices are available. While the maker give permission to share, they are in gray area since they actually modified copyright materials. This is one reason why I don't share my tools.

    * Meta files are created by TomTom on TomTom unit so they are also subject to TomTom copyright law and can't be shared

The problem is actually posting download links for them whether they're on sharing sites like Filefactory, Zippyshare etc OR torrents etc; THAT'S what TT won't allow anymore on this forum.

To be fair, WE are stealing copyright maps etc which have to be purchased and are licensed for one device and then sharing them around the world for free. If I was a TT shareholder I would be pretty pi55ssed off if they allowed this to happen which reduces their profits (and therefore my dividends)

Garmin stock (GRMN), 3.92% dividend. Not bad.

TOMTOM Amsterdam stock exchange. No dividend.
