Default Go Live 825 mapshare update

Bought a second hand Go Live 825 at a boot sale the other day tested it on his car before buying and all was ok...It had 12.74 installed and Europe map 890.4221 which I understand is a few years old...tested it on way home in my car and a couple of roads were missing and it did not show a new roundabout near my address.
I believe you have to connect via mydrive connect with this tomtom...If I connect will I be able offered mapshare for this old map?...

Yes, you need MyDrive to do anything with these newer devices and theoretically MyDrive should offer you mapshare updates even for that pretty old map (from May 2012)
May be worth considering a new map (of just the country/region you need)

Connected today and created account and all I got was GPS fix update no mapshare update then it said your device is up to date...And yes there is option to buy latest map but I thought I would have been offered mapshare update as well..
I will try logging on later in the week and if mapshare update is not offered I will go back to my trusty old go 720 at least I got quite freequent mapshare updates on that.

See here for the reason (I think) you can't get these:- [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

If your 720 is running well, stick with it as it's a bloody good device compared with all/any fancy/poncy NAV3 or NAV4 model and sell on the 825!

Thanks biggerdave will take your advice and sell 825 only bought it at boot sale as was quite cheap so do not want to splash out around £35 for new map as I have my 720 which as you say is a bloody good device...
I have noticed that tomtom will not support older devices in the near future. Does that mean I will no longer be able to update my go720 maps etc from the usual places...

PS:- I have a one xl with memory card slot should I sell it as well.

All the time TT continue to support at least some of these NAV2 devices; see the current "end-of-life" list here [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] then we can continue buying maps for all of them (subject to continuing support/donations/sponsorship etc)
We already have some map subscriptions valid to Oct-18 and even a few to 2019! If you're interested in donating, even say £5-£10 or €5-€10 then please pm me. Your older One XL is worth keeping "just in case" as that too can still be used with our maps.
