What is SWAP and how it works?

"The swap space or swap, is what is known as virtual memory. The difference between real and virtual memory is that the latter uses space on your hard disk instead of a memory module.
When the actual memory is exhausted, the system copies of the content in this directly in this swap space in order to perform other tasks.
Use SWAP has the advantage of providing additional memory required when real memory is exhausted and has to perform a process. The disadvantage is that, as a result of using space on your hard disk, using this is slower. "
It is often used in devices 32 mb, when you have to emulate, to use different navcores, not used in devices 64mb. It can be used in devices 32mb, with or without slot for external memory
