1) East Europe for me every time.
2) You can't have it all! Or as one witty Polish guy once said to me after i'd moaned about a bad road, "Hitler rolled his Tanks down our roads....he never got as far as yours". Touche! But Polish roads aren't too bad now actually.
3) I've got a navigator who can read 'real' maps....me. I was using those things probably before you were even born and certainly years before GPS was even on the market. I always carry hard mapping of each country with me and for Bosnia, Serbia and Albania i had no other choice as TT won't read co-ordinates in any those countries. But as a solo traveller, GPS has it's obvious advantages.
