help tt710 go wont accept any sd but the original???

hi guys im at my wits end here

i been updating my old 710go for years but it was starting to look a little tired so i acquired another as the first has been a great piece of kit

i always use truck maps as im a coach driver but for some reason the new one wont accept any other sd card accept the original one ive never had this issue before

i have tried Kingston sdhc and normal sd card and each time i get the dreaded red cross on the card

its just strange 2 identical tt's and one will take the cards and the other wont any ideas would be great as i would be pulling my hair out if i had any lols

    thanks in advance

And do you know which Bootloader you have in use ? You need at least 5.5022. My old GO910 is now equipt with a SD slot and show up like a GO710 but I'm using Bootloader 5.5128

Have you tried using a blank SD card, then letting running TomTom home so it installs all of the necessary software, then patching it afterwards and loading maps?

There are 3 types of SD formatting, FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS. I don't know what a Go910 prefers but it's probably FAT32 which can be selected in Windows -right click on the drive letter, select format and it's in a drop down list. You'll lose all data on the card when you format. You could check the original card's type of format by right clicking on its drive letter, select Properties and it's shown in that window.

SD card is probably best to use a new 4Gb in fat32
    M.I.
Click Start and then click Computer.
Search your TomTom device in the Devices list of removable storage.
Note: your browser may not have tag or name but a letter.
Click the right mouse button on the browser and select Format ... (Formatting ...)
System Files, check that you selected FAT32.
Make sure Quick Format is not selected. Note: The "normal" formatting checks for defective parts on the disc. It can save you future problems and losing files saved in them. The quick format does no checking if your gps no problem can select this mode and save time.

    654 09
Click Start. A warning is shown.
    Click OK.
    Windows will format your browser.
When formatting is complete, click OK, and then click Close to close the window.
