Default customizing region maps on tomtom urban rider

hello, i am experiencend on garmin, but not on tomtom. can somebody pls. hint me at how to solve this topic ? i have TT urban rider with all-europe map. however the internam memory is to small to store the latest version of all europe so TT forced me to select a region. the trip i am planning will take me across 2 regions (germany, france, uk) and i don't want to bring my laptop with me to change the region once i cross the border. how can i 'jailbreak' my urban rider in such way that i can install the maps i need for my trip ? remember, i own the maps since i have purchased the TT with all europe, it is just that TT home does not allow me to select which maps i want to be stored in the device. thxs in advance :-)

You really have no choice without an SD card slot other than take your laptop to switch maps using TTHome

Plan b) make a full Windows backup of your device then delete the current map folder, add Europe_1GB_North 900.4608 (for UK, France, Germany) from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] then run FastActivate buttons 2 & 3 from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

hi biggerdave - thxs for the suggestion. let me ask: with garmin, i would be able to have unlocked maps and load the maps map by map into the device. does tomtom have the same function ? i know that i can buy individual maps from tomtom. are there unlocked maps around and can i upload several unlocked maps into the device or would i nly be able to feed one map on one sd card into a device if it has a card slot ? ...

You are misunderstanding the problem here:
Your device has not enough internal memory to store such a big map.
My suggestion would be to make a full backup using Windows Explorer and after that to download one of our maps with the coverage you need.
I don't know what coverage you need but there are several EU maps available with meta codes in the 900 collection.
If worse comes to worse you might miss out for the trip on a few map feautres, but wou should be able to find a map that covers your trip.
Only other option be using something with more memory or an entirly different system.
In case you are willing to get into the guts of your device you can check my tutorial on adding a SD to most TT models - if you have a similar layout you might be able to add an SD.

I can not understand what is the problem?
1 On any USB flash drive you can always put all the zone maps.
2-I think you'll find an internet cafe in the road, it is also no problem.
3-You can lose 10 minutes and you copy the desired zone to TomTom with the stick.

As Dave wrote above - select NORTHERN zone - all 3 countries are there
