Default Tomtom go 300 have I killed it ?

    Hi guys.

Sorry that my first post is asking for help but HELP

I download a auto inslalling map yesterday and after installing it and turning on the tomtom but it just hung on the start screen.
After doing plenty of reading on here and other sites I thought it best to format the card and reinstall the back up I made earlier.
When I connected the tt to the computer it did not show up in explorer.
So I used a card reader to with the card and tomtom home recognised it and let me reinstall the back and checked for updates etc.

When ever I connect the tt to the computer it is not recognised by either the comper or tommtom home.
The tt when plugged it to the computer now has a screen come up asking if I want to connect to the computer so I select yes but then it just hangs with a red cross on the screen and wont turn off unless I do a reset.

I have installed clear flash to see if that would work but as the tt isn't being recognised it wont do anything.

I have tried connecting to different ports and using different cables but with no luck.

So any useful ideas and suggestions most welcome.

    Cheers JPS71

Is the TT working with the new setup or an older backup you have?
Connection problems on such old devices are mostly caused by a faulty connector, so the first thing we nne to check if the TT is running fine or not.

Check the info screen and post the results in terms of Navcore and bootloader installed please.
You might just have an incompatible bootloader running on your TT.

Ok, if you can still get this info your device is fine.
The bootloader is too old for newer Navcore and won't support SDHC cards.
I suggest to use the 5.5012 or 5.5128.

Unpack the archive to the root of your device / SD and reboot the TT.
You will see a short warning screen not to turn off - the BL is being installed.
After that you can use a V9 Navcore and SDHC SD cards.
I suggest you check my 9.485 for most devices - the version with Memory boost will suit your device, is patched and gives support for the latest maps.
A general how-to is in the thread, so read it carefully.
For the new map unpack the files to your device / SD into a folder , make sure the files don't end in a subfolder.
Be careful and check if for the map of choice a meta code is already available!
    E.g.: /maps/Europe east/mapfiles would not work.
Use the lates version of FastActivate for the map, the _NC is ready to go.

    Thanks for the info.
I have installed the bootloader you suggested and thats working fine
Still no usb connection to the tt so looks like the connector has broken but I am managing to do it all through a cardreader.
Once again thanks for the help
