Default Swindon missing from W&CE 885-4009?

    From Navcore thread:

Just done "Navigate to" address and number in Swindon (UK). Route calculated was to a town near Frankfurt, DE.
Go910, 9.430.890926.1 (from 9.430 for GO models, page 1, post #3), b/l 5.5229, map W&CE 885-4009. "navigate to point on map" worked. What is so odd about Swindon?

As I expected; not a navcore problem. Loaded and switched to 2GB Europe 885-4008 and Swindon is where it really is, not near Frankfurt. And I can navigate to an address or post code.

Post copied to the "Maps" forum.

Not sure as I don't use a EU map.
AFAIK for multi country maps you must select the country too.
I assume you did that or your already tried to other addresses in the UK.
How exactly to you enter this address?
If there are two town with the same name in different countries, by default the one in the country of your current location should be highlighted.
Is it possible that Swindon UK is displayed right under Swindon DE?

UK is selected. I have tried Sheffield, Bath and Sandhurst and get German (or possibly Dutch) sounding street names.

I started to d/l another W&CE yesterday but the PC died after two parts arrived. Replacement will take several days.

There is no problem with the Europe version of 885 on my GO, so I can use that one and worry about the W&CE after I get the new PC.

No. So there can not be.
Always when you select the address must first select a country, and only then-city.

Maybe you should just use a map of the UK?

Well bu66er me, just turned on GO, afetr four days of non use, to switch to Europe map and get updates prior to leaving for France and it is working fine with W&CE. Home to port, French port to destination, as Navigate to, Prepare route and Itinerary. It's not April 1, I checked the calender.

13 miles east of Bath. It has stopped raining and run aground. Like HMS Astute.

    Got back; GO performed impeccably.

Dare I risk adding the "ABOUT TO BE RELEASED" 890 maps?

Why not, we're all waiting impatiently for these. I reckon sometime next week but what do I know?
