Maybe there is something else to unlock:
under Android/data/com.tomtom.gplay.navapp.nds/files is a folder named 'pois'.
When putting an ov2-file there and starting the app, it displays something like 'waypoint file found'
Too bad, no POIs show up in the app ...
It would be really great if ov2-file could be used.

Your POI will be shown in My Places.
I haven't tried installing on an sd card, but I believe that folders would be available then.
Another way to do it is if you have places you go to all the time for work as an example.
Then add them into your phones contacts list.
Be it the hotels you stay at over night or the customer you are going to see that day.
Then you can pick them any time you want in "MyPlaces".
This way you do not have to root your phone to get it to work with personal poi's.
Plus even if you root your phone you will not see them on the map screen.
You can pick a POI and go to it but if you are adding extra speed cams as an example you are not going to drive to it......
Plus rooting phones will void your warranty and a lot of phones can not be rooted or you brick your phone because you do not know what you are doing.
It is better to stick with what you can download and forget about rooting your phone.
Or if you need your personal POI's then you will have to use GPS apps that are more friendlier than the TomTom ones.

my phone is rooted, but putting POIs and pngs under /data/data ... did not work for me.
But, after adding my png into /Android/data/com.tomtom.gplay.navapp.nds/files/pois/ov2_icons/hdpi/ I can SEE my POIs after enabling them via Settings/map&display/Show on map/Points of Interest/More Categories.
I cannot see them under My Places (as with the normal TOMTOM Go app), and it seems I am also not able to search for them.
Note: it takes (at least on my phone) a minute or so until the POI-categories show up under Settings/map&display/Show on map/Points of Interest/More Categories

Otherwise, due to minor changes and optimizations, you cannot override the previous version of this one. That will be possible in the future.

Is the new link indeed for the modded version? I have just installed from the arm7 link and nothing under TomTom Labs except for the map scale bar. Clean install on a Galaxy Note 4
