.....but I think that it will hook the GPS signal as in many other Car radio system ....

Okay I've renamed the folders as describe in that link, I was actually using a mac to view the files and was unable to view the metadata.xml, after reading that link I used windows on my virtual machine and was able to see the metadata.xml which I added too all the other files in the FILE folder. Now I also have the TOMTOM apk. file, should I also copy that along with the Android folder and everything in it to the root of the SD CARD or should the SD CARD literally only have the folder and the .apk has to be installed separately ? Granted you may not know in my case as it's a navigation system and not a phone I'm trying to install it on.

    Thanks

    Thanks

Apk you can put where you want, in to internal memory or in to external SD Card.

But you have followed these instructions ?
    Spoiler: Jelly Bean instuctions

On JellyBeen or previous O.S, path for INTERNAL and EXTERNAL SD Card is the SAME, ALSO for KITKAT 4.4.X and LOLLIPOP 5 into INTERNAL MEMORY !!

    PATH IS :
    tomtom / com.tomtom.your country / files

Copy the complete tomtom folder in the External Sd Card root (or Internal Memory root.)

Install .Apk, quit from installer and restart your device. Start the software.

You still have this error ? "Impossible to connect to TomTom. Please try again later"
Recopy again .METADATA.XML file into >> com.tomtom.your country folder << and restart software.

If you don't see .METADATA.XML file, you need to enable the viewing of hidden files......

    Don't use a PC with MAC O.S....

Data or wi-fi connection open or closed ..... makes no difference.....it works in any case !

Okay I had copied the metadata file into the incorrect folder in that case, I added it to the 'FILE' folder where all the other files resided, I now have added it inside 'com.tomtom.ukireland'. I also previously had 2 extra folders called 'android' and 'data' which i have now deleted and renamed. I still just try it before doing the wrong method which came up with the same 'unable to connect' message, so will now just go back to the car and try again. Somehow I think i'm still going to get the same error message but you got to try!

Just saw your message, will give it another go now. Can I just confirm, where you have the name of your country on the second folder in my case com.tomtom.United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland, the map of your country folder in the FILE folder, does it need to be spelt exactly in the same way with the hyphens also included so it would say 'United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland' ?

    tomtom / com.tomtom.ukireland /files
    Same denomination that's inside the .METADATA.XML : <bundleid>com.tomtom.ukireland</bundleid>

MAP folder denomination is : United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland

Okay let me edit that now and try again. And just to confirm the metadata.xml goes inside 'com.tomtom.ukireland' folder along with the 'file' folder ?

Okay just tried again, same thing 'unable to connect'. It's not going to happen for me, TomTom doesn't want to work on this system.

I no longer know what to say ....

    You overwritten again .Metadata.xlm ??

    At last....:

Try opening the .metadata.xlm (use notepad ++) and change the value in this string, putting it a value 0 (zero):

    <size>0</size>

Then, reinstall (overwrite) the .apk ....and good luck!

    EDIT:

But, for me, you MUST use a Windows PC....
