But what we have discovered is that Sygic is still making mistakes. Some ogg files are packed in the apk itself, which have no function at all. We assume this is a legacy of the old versions.
    Thanks for your reply.
I've just tried again with v2.8.8 and this time it works perfectly.
I now have my custom OGG sounds for notification.

Maybe, I did something wrong last time.

I think this post area is starting to get a little blurred. There are to many post that have nothing to do with "Discussion about Sygic editions modified by MrDude."
In fact most are now from modified by Balatan. Maybe they need to be put into a folder just for "Discussion about Sygic editions modified by Balatan".
The same hold true for all the posts for non modified Sygic app in a folder just for that.
Seeing that a lot of the users do not read anything it might help a little to keep things a little straighter.

    Exactly
I thought about it for a while - a new topic is created > THIS ONE, all post moved here

Guide Use your custom OGG sounds in Sygic v20.x

The concept is to replace the OGG files included in the APK with your custom OGG files.
In the APK, the OGG files are located in \assets\res\sound folder.
The filenames must be exactly the same.
For example, to replace the included beep.ogg file, rename your OGG file to beep.ogg (all in lower case).

    General Steps:
    1) Extract the APK to a folder
    2) Replace the OGG files with yours in \assets\res\sound extracted folder
    3) Repack & sign the APK

I think any APK tool can be used for this purpose.
For this test, I replace beep.ogg in Sygic v20.8.8 with my own OGG file on Android, using APK Editor Pro (v1.9.10 from forum.mobilism.org).

    Detailed Steps:

In the step above, you can replace as many OGG files as you like before proceeding to the next step.

Then, you can copy the repacked APK for later install or click install to install it right away.

Just finished doing a new clean install of Sygic Sygic 20.8.10 it still downloaded Sept map of Belgium.
    Closed Sygic
Deleted the map folder with Belgium Sept in it.
I just used Mr. Dudes downloader November maps.
Copy the map folder back to Sygic.
    Restarted Sygic
    It now show Novembers maps.
But it still wants to update to Sept.
So do not hit the update.

It is a small glitch but is workable downloading maps manually.

But do a clean install each time seeing you will be installing new maps each time anyway.

You can uninstall an app but keep the data by running adb shell and then run package manager and use the k option, example:

    adb shell
    pm list packages
    pm uninstall -k com.app.something

That way if you are messing about with Sygic, you don't need to keep downloading/installing maps/voices etc.

When you use Sygic app to download maps from within the app, a database file is updated with the timestamp of the map you downloaded, when you manually update a map by replacing it, this timestamp is not updated so the app still thinks you are using the one from the database entry that was written. That's why the app tells you there's an update (even though you installed a newer map), because the timestamp from the map doesn't match the timestamp from the database entry.

I think the patch is set to show next months maps but will not download the monthly ones.
Seeing that is still show September maps to update to that the next maps will be officially December's maps.

    From the Sygic website:

Offline 3D Maps with monthly updates (Subscribe to Premium+ )

    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
So download maps per each month has to be done manually. (again no big deal)
    OR
You just wait till December and see what happens.....
Every 3 months is OK for map updates too.
