    Arrow Car Navigation and POIs

I have been trying all this morning to add some POIs to my Android Car Navigation app, all without any success. I have done the following:

    1) Tried to download POIs from POIPlaza as referenced on the Sygic web page. After selecting the POIs I wanted I tried to download them only to be sent to POIBase. POIBase required that I specify what device I wanted the POIs for and none of them matched the Sygic phone app so this attempt failed.

    2) Tried to convert some existing POIs that I had for my old separate Rand McNally GPS navigation system. I added the specified "delimited=" line, used the Sygic conversion tool to change the csv files to rupi files, created a matching bmp file and placed them in the import folder. When I started Car Navigation I was notified that there were some POI files to import but when I tried to import them the import operation failed. I was not told why the operation failed.

    3) I then tried to do the same thing using the Android phone internal memory rather than the sd card I had been using, but that failed in exactly the same way.

Can anyone help me either find a way to download POIs from POIPlaza or some other location in the format that works for Car Navigation (upi or rupi) or tell me the proper way to convert existing csv files so that I can successfully add the POIs? I assume I am making some pretty basic mistake but I have no idea what that might be.

The Sygic web page says that I can add them manually from a map that since there are more than 6000 Walmarts I would rather not go down that path.

You can try with attached speedcams files for whole US, but I'm not sure they will be imported if all the US maps aren't installed.

I started with the Sygic webpage and spent some time with help on the chat line as well. Information about importing into Car Navigation is not on their website as the chat guy told me and the information for Car GPS does not work for Car Navigation. He gave me information about where to install the files, but every import I have done has failed, and the app does not provide enough information to explain why it failed.

As for poi-factory, that is where I got the POIs that I have been trying to import. I followed the instructions about converting them to the proper format for Sygic, but none of it worked. Oh, the conversion process gave me an output file, and the converter did not tell me there was any error, but the rupi format would not import.

The text and csv files that I used look perfectly ok, but the file would not import.

Ahhh. That never occurred to me. Perhaps the problem is that I am trying to import POIs from all over the US and only have perhaps 15 maps installed. I will have to try that to see if it fixes the problem.

    Thank you for the suggestion.

It turns out that the problem with the POIs is that I did not have all of the maps for the imported POIs and so the entire POI set was rejected instead of just importing the POIs that I did have maps for.

I have written a small app to extract the POIs for the specific states I have loaded and created POI files for them. Most (but not all) of them successfully imported and are accessible, so that was the first issue. I have to figure out why some of the POIs for specific states were not imported, but that seems to be a separate issue.

I thought some people might be interested in this resolution so I am posting what I found. I wanted specifically to thank @spyder for his idea. Thank you very much for putting me on the right track.
