nextgen need help determining software/maps needed for 2016 Forester

Hello! New to the forum here.

I was trying to update the maps on my 2016 Forester. After paying $60 for a map update from the official website and tool not working, I formatted the card not realizing that this both obliterated the maps and the software.

I understand that this is iGO software, but I'm unsure as to the version this car requires or where I'd start. I've been searching the iGO section of the forum in hopes of figuring out what I need, but I admit I haven't found much yet. I'm not sure if any version will work, or if I need a specific one.

I'm hoping someone with knowledge of the 2016 Forester and the Gen2 head-unit might be able to help point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    @Kozality,

Did you try contacting Subaru and explaining what you did.

I Think starting there first would be better.

Plus they show 119.00 dollars for the Single Update.

If you have a subscription with Subaru it is free.

Plus what I never understand is why user's always go for a format of an SD card before contacting the the company first to explain what their problems are.

It would save a lot of headaches from the start.

    asprin624,

    Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately, I did contact them. I bough the update file but their tool didn't work. They didn't have any suggestions for why it shouldn't. So I reached out to the Subaru dealer. Subaru told me to contact the mapupdate organization as map updates were not their responsibility (ugh).

So after doing this runaround for a bit, I decided to fiddle with it and format it, with the expectation that the tool might have better luck with a blank card. I know, the mapupdates team said the same why "why format?". I simply didn't anticipate that there was anything special to the card, and reasonably expected that it was simply a bulk data device.

The company told me I'd need to buy a new card from them to the tune of $119, and at that point I said to myself "forget it" and went searching.

If you have any insights, they'd be greatly appreciated! Otherwise, I'm just going to write this off.

    Thanks!

But before you ask any questions please read all the help that is posted in this section.

You might get back on track.

I do not deal with this app at all so please read what has been posted in this section.
