Off course not and I'm not like that, my postings here are all only meant only to be helpful as are Giomen's. I'm sorry you saw it as a possible insinuation of lack of intelligence, the point is that P#3 clearly WAS too brief to be easily taken in and I was politely and gently suggesting both you and the kind member helping were quite wasting your time persevering with VoiceEditor. I had/have no desire to offend Giomen either who I now feel should be defended further. So about this:Quote:

He actually did say as much because it's certinly in the extensive README which is displayed at the base of that page and gives several references to "Compatible navigators: nuvi 2x97 / 3x97, ..., nuviCam, the entire series Drive" in regard to TTS3 voices. The RU>EN google transation is clear enough in my opinion and quite comprehensive. My interpretation of Giomen's P#3 is this:Quote:
.....because what he posted was a page that is in Russian language discussing voices in Russian, & when I translated it, offered nothing in response to my question regarding if MY model was capable of it. My posting title CLEARLY states the type and model GPS device that I use. In some ways maybe it just would have been easier for someone to simply say "Unfortunately your GPS model doesn't allow editing of TTS voice files"?
"Only one description for modern TTS editing I found:" Means: "I know of only one described method for editing modern TTS voices"
[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] (He's expecting you to translate it and read the README which opens with that page. It certainly only deals with TTS3 files for RU which have already been modified to correct inconsistencies.)
Giomen's first language isn't English and perhaps I'm just a bit more used to his turn of phase. I hope I'm not now suspected of "man-splaining" this. ;)
Following on from that README info, the fact that someone has been able to do that with RU TTS3 files suggests to me that the same method could be used to edit others. I'm not a programmer, there are others here who are but as yet no one's offered to try. Maybe this will stir someone to do so .... looking at you osiris4isis! TurboCCC seems to have gone quiet again.
Post #3 does give enough info to "build your own TTS3" voice. Tedious but possible. Speaking of TurboCCC, his wiki page is going bye-bye by the end of this month (July 2018)
"Tedious but possible" meaning "challenging"? You LOVE a challenge don't you O-thingy? Sooo .... Bet you can't do it before Giomen does .... ;)
Well, as the Russian page already shown via tediously
1. Extract (split) the submap files from .vpm
2. Change the relevant data
3. Re-build (merge) the submap's into a new .vpm file
Building a API/GUI is another story, which I don't have time to play with that right now. But who knows, if enough people are interested in it; I might find the time.
And making a new proggy is only one half of the task, the other half is finding people with the hardware to test it. BTW, what hardwares use TTS3 (other than Drive 50)?
Pretty much every prestige/premium navigator since nuvi 3597 use TTS3, including all Drive, DriveAssist, DriveSmart, DriveLuxe, nuviCam, nuvi 2797 and it's derivative dezl, RV and Camper and all their later versions. Too numerous to fully list but all the models which are promoted as using "Real Directions" described by Garmin as "Easy-to-understand driving directions that guide like a friend, using recognizable landmarks, buildings and traffic lights. No more stress from trying to read street names. Garmin Real Voice is refined speech technology that sounds more like a natural, friendly voice. Garmin Real Directions and Garmin Real Voice are features that are only available in our line of GPS navigators." Real Voice in that context means the TTS3 voices which are capable of adding more info to navigating directions such as "Turn left before the Aldi" in addition to the upcoming turn's street name.
Thanks for your explanation how to edit. You've wasted your sweetness on the desert air with moi however as I'm only a simple handyman at most and a lazy incompetent slob at least. Best you just do it hey?
Oh, good info on the "Real Direction" and "Real Voice", it let me know why various type of files are there in the TTS3 .vpm (I will explain more later)
Ok, "moi" try this
Spoiler: .
Gee thanks Tex. That's right neighborly of ya. Nobody has set me homework since my highschool Physics teacher had a nervous breakdown back in '64. You've clearly mistaken me for someone who gives a damn however. It's the OP you should be encouraging so I'm gonna flick this right over to him ..... ;)
How odd, I would think you're the kind of person that would give yourself homework to keep sane; don't you have a need to mod TTS3 as well?
Nevertheless, here is the answer
Spoiler: .
Stop trying to make me 'like' your stuff to read it. I don't need to anyway, with a little dark magik I can see your scribblings:
You cunning sausage you! You need me to test it don't you? I have ample devices to do so however it won't work with that file name - it has to be same as original so must ditch "_D4487-00(TTS3)_new". Anyway, I thank you for not only overestimating my interest in this project but also by assuming I'm capable of running those commands without cocking everything up.Quote:

My numerous kids and grandkids keep me almost sane thank you, I only do this stuff for giggles. Give me a link to the new file (I know you've already made it, so don't protest) and I'll grudgingly test it for you if you wish. Does it have any profanity or kinky stuff?
