You just have to disable the antivirus to install.
Or install a reliable antivirus ;)
Hi all!
Unfortunately my Norton Antivirus Program (and McAfee on a second PC) points out that in this .RAR file (and in the .EXE stored into) is hidden a Troian.Gen.2 virus.
Does anybody confirm this?
Possibly Unwanted Application. While not necessarily malicious, the scanned file presents certain characteristics which depending on the user policies and environment may or may not represent a threat.Code:https://www.virustotal.com/it/file/f4e50dbeedf193a2c878b4354c3c13533d8ee5801649cd71a2cd2a4bfb8b62b5/analysis/
Symantec reputationAv see "patcher" and give alarm, but the file is clean. (false positive)Code:http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2010-021223-0550-99
If you don't believe you can patch BC normally replacing the exe with the patched one. See Basecamp thread.
Windows Defender Win8/8.1 and Microsoft Security Essentials Win7 both scan it as safe [the same antivirus engine in both].
I am able patch Basecamp.exe when copying the patcher programme to the correct folder.
But the patcher programme seems to be unable to patch Mapinstall.exe so I can send img files to my harddrive.
(I copy the patcher to the folder where mapinstall is installed and run the patcher there - I says it can not find basecamp.exe but I then choose look for other exe files - click on mapinstall.exe and click patch.
But it is not patched! - not able to send map files to my harddrive.
How do you Guys patch mapinstall?

Thanks Catymag - I have already downloaded the patched version, just wondering if it is not possible to patch my self!?
The version 1 of the patch programme did state that the patcher was for basecamp and mapinstall.
I could also just use Mapsource to choose the maps and then generate the map file - but I do not know, if Basecamp produces a more updated mapfile (puts more data within the mapfile) than Mapsource.
Or perhaps Mapsource and Mapinstall does the exact same thing!?
The Mapinstall patcher works for me Win7 x64, btw you can patch MI manually comparing files in Hex Editor.
Mapsource is discontinued, Garmin doesn't support it anymore. New City Navigators maps selected and created with MS can give routing problems in gps, many topo maps are not visible or don't show properly in MS. Don't use it anymore.
Basecamp (+Mapinstall) replaced Mapsource and it is the recommended and actually developed software for Garmin mapping.
