For HEX editor lovers!
Small Microsoft Excel file for convert Part Number from HEX to ANSI or vice versa.
SORRY! Now this file only for Russian locales due to peculiarities of my remote access! Usually Microsoft makes compliance to any locale but I am not sure for other devices than mine. If you need the file for the English locales for Excel you must ask me!

Love your wife? Buy yourself a GPS for answering to her favorite question: "Dear, where are you?".
Here is a Perl script to change or add the part number in an image file. It works an a Windows system with Perl installed or of course on a Linux system:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
The script takes two parameter, which can be changed in the script - see the marked lines in the first part):
- the name of the image file (default: 'imagefile.img', as you always should worked with a copy)
- the part number as normal string like '010-D1160-00' for Transalpin 2012 Pro (default: empty string).
The part number will be coded (second part) and the resulting 9 bytes are written into the imagefile (third part), beginnend at position 48 (hex 0x30).
Excuse me but what is the "part number" in a image map? What is it doing? Is it doing anything? Why do you care to change it?
Man, I am falling behind this days. Need to catch up fast. Thanks Caty!!! You are the Garmin Underworld Goddess! I am so obsessed with the FW hacks that I forgot about the maps. Very interesting indeed! Very useful for hikers and especially for offroaders is this new implementation! Now how can this be implemented in the old maps or in the custom ones? Hmm...
