I have a Garmin 172c which uses the garmin data card. I recently upgraded my old computer to a laptop with windows 7, unfortunately the usb card programmer does not work with 64 bit systems. Does anyone have a work around or another program which will allow me to program my card with my laptop.
Thanks in advance.

If you have Windows 7 Ultimate, you should have access to XP mode, which should allow you to run the program without issue. If you don't, you've got three choices:
- Install a virtual machine package such as VMWare, and then install a copy of Windows XP into the virtual hard drive.
- Dual boot Windows XP and Windows 7.
- Find a used netbook or laptop with Windows XP preinstalled and use it with the software.
Thanks for the responses, I found another work around. I had an old usb to 232 converter which I was able to find a driver that worked with windows 7. I hooked up the serial connection from my garmin to the converter and downloaded the map to the unit via mapsource. I am going to pick up an old computer to continue using the card programmer but this will work till I find an old computer.
