    Default (update)Mobile GMaps v1.33.09 J2ME

    Mobile GMaps v1.33.09 J2ME

    MGMaps v1.33.09 - Many bug fixes (May 25th, 2007)
Mobile GMaps v1.33.09 is out (get it here), it includes many bug fixes and small improvements:

Directions: names are shown instead of coordinates when you select the GPS position as the source or destination for the route.
    Favorites: some bugs were fixed.
GPS heading arrow: the arrow is now shown (if enabled) at the current GPS position and not in the center of the screen, the arrow tip indicates the GPS position.
GPS Mobile Tracking: the Mobile Tracking On/Off option now only handles the Move Map functionality, and is temporarily disabled if Joystick Mode is on. The marker is shown by default and you can enable or disable it in Settings/GPS/Mobile Tracking/Show Marker.
GPS Screen ("compass"): the screen now displays more info and should look differently depending on screen size, the compass now rotates as it should (the arrow moves and not the compass drawing). In addition, there are a few new shortcuts only recognized in the GPS screen: 1 - enable/disable Mobile Tracking, 2 - enable/disable Web Tracking, 7, 8 and 9 - change coord display mode. These shortcuts may change in the future.
    Many other GPS-related bug fixes.

GOOGLE MAPS AND OTHERS AT YOUR FINGERS...

Mobile GMaps is a FREE application that displays Google Maps, Yahoo! Maps, Windows Live Local (MSN Virtual Earth) and Ask.com Maps and satellite imagery on Symbian and Java J2ME-enabled mobile phones, PDAs and other devices.

MGMaps can connect to a GPS receiver over bluetooth or use internal GPS features on some phones in order to automatically display the map for your current position.

    * The new version includes support for multiple languages. There are a few translations already included, but I'm still looking for translators into other languages. If you wish to help, see the forum to learn how to translate MGMaps messages.
    * You can now track online the position reported by your GPS. To do that, sign up on GMap-Track.com, then go to Settings/GPS/Web Tracking in MGMaps, check the enable checkbox and enter your username and tracking ID in the form. You can only see your latest position on [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (and you need to manually refresh the map), but more features including "friends" and saving tracks will be added in the following days.
    * The newest MGMaps displays the latest satellite imagery updates from Google.
    * The zoom level is now counted differently to be in concordance with the zoom level as counted by Google Maps, WikiMapia and other applications. Specifically, newZoomLevel = 17-oldZoomLevel.
    * The new version of MGMaps includes some bug fixes for Search and displaying places.

Here are some key features of the application:

    * GPS connectivity: connect to a GPS device over bluetooth or use the internal GPS to view maps or aerial imagery for your current location. Enable GPS synchronization to continuously move the map as you move around, view your position, speed and heading.
    * Maps and satellite imagery: view various types of maps and aerial images, zoom in and out, mark favorite places with map pushpins.
    * Search for places or businesses, view the results including addresses and phone numbers. Do you want to call any of them? You can do that directly from Mobile GMaps!
    * Bookmarks: store your favorite places or search results to jump quickly to any of them.
    * Mobile WikiMapia:New! WikiMapia.org is a mashup that allows users to add tags and annotate locations displayed on Google Maps. They already have over 1 million places, now you can view them on your cellphone using MGMaps!
    * View KML files:New! view any .kml file available online containing Google Earth places by simply entering its web address. Compressed files (.kmz) are also supported.
    * Subway maps: view subway maps for New York, London, Berlin, Washington DC, Boston.
    * Connectivity with Navizon: use MGMaps together with Navizon in order to support GPS functionality over bluetooth on older Symbian S60 phones and to enable positioning features without a GPS device.
