    Instructions:

    1. Very important: disable your antivirus, otherwise it will hijack FastActivate.exe which is needed for map/navcore activation!
    2. Copy content of the SD folder to the root of the FAT32 formatted SD card
    3. Start the car and insert SD and wait for the error message: "You cannot use this map on this device: Europe...."
    4. Unplug SD card from the system and go back to your PC
    5. Look for the folder LOOPDIR (it containts unique fingerprint of your Carminat unit) and open file ext3_loopback with notepad
    6. Search (Ctrl+F) for "uniqueID" (line with your device unique 10 digit code with letters & numbers)

    id

    7. Write down your uniqueID and close the window
    8. open file ttgo.bif with notepad and replace DeviceUniqueID number with your number (10 digits without space between them)

    bif

    9. Save & close
    10. Run FastActivate.exe and select:
    ...Update meta
...Patch maps, voices....(if successfully patched you'll get -->.dct OK under Complete Map(s) section. If not, you did something wrong!
...Patch navcore (It should be already patched)

    11. Quit FastActivate.exe
    12. Open Voice folder and delete all 3 .dct files which were automatically created by activation procedure. If you leave them, than those 3 voice files won't work!
    13. Go back to your car, insert SD and enjoy your new Europe map update!

    Note 1:
I uploaded this pack exclusively because it includes newest navcore 8843 which will fix GPS lock issue after 6.4.2019. Some of you maybe don't know yet that there was official announcement from Tomtom (this applies to some older Tomtom devices, including Carminat Tomtom & R-Link):

    64

    Note 2:
You can use any 8 Gb SD card for this update pack (CID is not relevant).

New package with the latest mapset Europe 10.25 (Feb. 2019)

yes those were just released but without meta, map is useless. But usually meta codes for "popular" maps are posted very soon.

wow, this is my 1000th post!

    Hello Janch,
First of all thanks a lot for your work!
Do you have the cid as well? I understand I dont need the cid if I make everything as you wrote. But it would be fine if you could tell me the cid - so I dont need to make this procedure. Just copy the data to the customised sd card.
    thanks!

No sorry I don't have CID for Carminat "ready SD". And even If I had it, it won't be any use for this release. Ready SD card with universal licence (like for Carminat Live) has different map set and more important, it's older than this one (10.20). Trust me, this option is way better and it also includes newest navcore with applied fix (issue described in OP).

Okay, thanks for the quick answer!
    I trust you
The problem: The car must be here to make this steps... Without the car I cant make a working map.

    Edit:
I can not run the A_F_Activate.exe
I closed the antivirus of course. (microsoft security essentialis)
When I click on the file, nothing happens. "Sand glass" pop up for a half second, and thats all.
    OS: Win7 X64
    What am I doing wrong?

You can check Device uniqueID remotely but your customer needs to have his old SD card inside (map version or region is not important).

    How to check UniqueID:

    1. Pres and hold button INFO/ROUTE button for a few seconds
    2. "No route planned" screen will appear
    3. Click with joystick to the right and you'll get device info:

    carminatversion

Device number is the number you are looking for..

edit: A_F_Activate.exe always runs in background so if you have any other window opened, just close it or minimize it to get A_F_Activate always in the front.

I'm curious that all the units with navcores under 8843 will stuck in the middle of nothing after 06 April 2019 ? Will be funny ... and not so much, if you do not hear about and just drive own car to unknown place with hope that the great TomTom navigation will guide you.

    DebeliaMark, BG

P.S. I was made 1020 on my colleague Megane 3 at the end of 2018 ... will keep it running till 06.04.2019 to see what will happened and will inform you. As i remember the navcore is a earlier that 8842 [ i was update just the maps ] ...

Hi, I followed the tutorial with succes at every step, and the map works, with the new navcore. Thanks a lot for this helpful post !

BUT at the end, everytime I enter the car and switch on my Radio (and Carminat), it displays the ugly yellow sandbox page for 5 seconds, as if it was updating something at every power on....
I did not have this behaviour on any of my previous SD updates...
Any idea why he is doing this ?

EDIT : my bad, I noticed that this ugly sandbox was in the splashscreen.bmp file on the SD, that I modified in something more beautiful in my previous SD cards ;-)

    BUT I still have a problem :
In my previous SD setups, I was using custom wav sounds in the /sounds directory of the SD to be used by the POI alarms. But now if I try to set these alarms, it proposes a bunch of sounds, but not those in /sounds. I do not even understand where the sounds it proposes are coming from... They do not seem to be store in the card. Or maybe hidden in a big file ?
So how can I use custom wav sounds ?

    @dave binbin,

The sounds for POI alarms are OGG files with the same name than the OV2 files. They need to be placed in the map folder.
