    Default R-Link Navigation maps

    Hello,

I have here a Renauls with R-Link navigation TomTom.
I have installed R-Link explorer and can see the files of tomtom.000
Which maps do I need for put on the SD card, to have the new one (990)?
And do I need to activate them or is it replace and done?

    Greetz,

You have to buy maps from Renault when you want to update. There is no way to use other maps than original maps from Renault with the R-Link.

Not really true..there is a workaround but you need CID changeable SD card and off course raw image of the original R-Link SD card (current version is 965). It's pretty much the same procedure as is for Ford FX, WV RNS, Nissan, Opel etc..Please don't ask me for the goodies as I don't have any of those for this system.

If you can do it please post a working solution or a link but i doubt you can because there is nothing to find.

Do you really think that the SD cards for R-Link which you can find on e-bay are really genuine? These are just CID-preconfigured SD cards which can be ordered from Alibaba. E-bay sellers just put printed "original" R-link labels on it and sells them as genuine

The same story for all other cards as I mentioned before..The main problem is the min. quantity of those CID-preconfigured empty SD cards as those crazy Chinese wants min 50 - 100 pcs for one order. You cannot buy only 1 SD card..Another solution is to find Samsung Evo card with changeable CID, but these are really hard to find this days as the vendor already patched backdor bug and new card are not usable for those purposes any more.

Its about the maps and not the sd-cards. you won´t find working maps for the r-link as a download in forums/websites. this system has a harder protection for the maps and it is not cracked yet. cloning sd-cards is possible but who pays for pirated sd-cards when you can buy original cards from your official dealer?

You are wrong! I tested myself and it worked. I made an image (using HDD Raw copy tool) from the "original" SD card as from the link above. I read the CID from original SD using Linux and use the same CID afterwards on Samsung Evo 16GB card which I used for restoring image extracted from the original. Cloned SD worked perfectly in 3 of 4 cars. Unfortunately I have never figured it out why it didn't worked in one case. But that was just an experiment, not for selling or distributing purposes. I did the same on Nissan connect LCN1 and Suzuki Vitara, Opel..Always using the same SD (Samsung Evoplus 32 GB) changing only CID and map data off course.

For R-Link It's true that you cannot make 1:1 copy of the original under windows, because the file system on the SD card is not visible under Windows (Only Linux) so you have to use HDD raw copy toll to create an image under WIN or you can make a copy under Linux. I prefer the first option as I don't know much about Linux commands.

Anyway, if you don't have CID changeable SD card or CID pre-configured SD, you cannot do anything even if you have the original SD on your desk.

That's funny thing to say. Compare the price for the same card at the Renault official dealer and the one from my link and you'll get the answer if those SD cards from e-bay are really "genuine". But who cares, it's much cheaper and it works, only that matters..

But what do you do when you dont have another sd-card with new maps on it and want to update your old maps on the r-link? from where do you get the sd-card image file when you dont want to pay, either for a pirated sd-clone or for an original sd-card? its not like updating your tomtom-gps device, where you can download just the maps from many places all over the internet and copy them on the device. thats not working for r-link.
