How to install it on your GARMIN device:

•Connect your GARMIN device to USB, and copy the file into the POI folder.


•Restart the GARMIN device, the Extra POI Pack Database will now work. It is stored either in the Extra or Other Categories section.


How to it was created out of OSM data:

•Download planet-latest.osm


•Reverse geocode OSM data to determine country, city, street (Reverse geocoding process to identify the street, zip, city and country, given the only coordinate of a POI.


•Since OSM data doesn’t have this information and since our framework requires that the countries be split, this step is mandatory.)


•Remove data which is already contained in our set


•Normalize” OSM data (The normalization is a complex process whereby OSM-categories and sub-categories are mapped to our categories.)


•Add any missing names


•Cleaning up


Category overview:

•Eating out and accomodation: >273.241, 8 categories


•Shopping: > 295.577, 17 categories


•Public Transport & Services for Motorists: >828.763 , 9 categories


•Leisure Activities and Trips Out: > 488.265, 14 categories


•Public Services and Facilities: >461.303, 15 categories

I have a problem with this pack on nuvi 2497.
The POIs are always shown on the map, zoom factor does not matter. And as there is a lot of pois, they cover all over the screen at certain zoom(s).

Is there any way to turn those POI off for the map?
I tried map detail levels settings: all of them - "Less", "Normal","More" - nothing helps, those Extra POI pack seems always shown on map

Please advise.
