Default Custom POI for Garmin Montana with prox. Alerts

    Hello,

i am trying for 2 days to create custom POI for my montana. What i want to create : a list of dangerous points with proximity alerts. I just want the same alert i have when i add a proximity alert for a waypoint. And since i dont want to go to this places, i dont want to have them in my wapoint list.

I have tried several method (POI Loader) but i never have alert. Has somebody been able to create such alert and can give me some advices ? i have already try a lot of the tutorials on the web (garmin, and another) but with no success.

    thanks a lot.

    Create your Waypoint in Mapsource.
Place your waypoint in the middle of a road.
There is a box in waypoint Properties that has a proximity Value, write your value in there. eg 0.4 km = 400 meters.
Now save the file as a gpx file. eg noise.gpx
Place the file in a folder eg c:\mypoi\noise.gpx
If you want to add an Icon then place it in the same folder as c:\mypoi\noise.bmp must be the same filename
(You can download garmin Icons from Various sites on Internet)
Now run Poi Loader in automatic mode and point it to that folder.
Once Poiloader loads your POI into the gps you need to navigate to the point and it should beep when you get to 200 meters away.

Make sure that proximity alerts are switched on in the GPS.

............. if you do not want to use the MapSource (or BaseCamp) you could also do this with Google Maps or Earth .... export to KML, convert the file to CSV and process again with the poiloader (always with the corresponding BMP files 24x24x8) in manual mode giving the desired proximity

    Bye,bye

i don't understant. That is exactly what i do, and i does not work. the only difference is that i take a lesser distance for my alert since it is for walk. I got the POI, but never an alert. If i navigate to the POI (what i do not want to do) i just have an alert at the arrival..

I think that from what you tell us the POI is being created correctly.
Give me some time to look at this !
