    Gets even better - reply from Garmin today as follows:

    "The language guide has been removed from the devices since January of 2013, as the full guide is not compatible with the unit. This removal prevents the impression that it is. I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused. That feature is not planned to be added to the device again. I hope that provides some clarity."

    Wunch of Bankers! Feature was working just fine for me until they removed it. But I'm glad that sitting in Europe I am fully compliant with the California energy regulations!

    Oh well, back to V4.70 i say! Going by the changelog, you won't be missing out on much between 4.70 & 4.90. Except the non-compliance with battery charging energy regulations for CA of course, that's a secret we must carry to the grave. Wunch of Bankers? You're too kind with your Spoonerism, much too kind. Floody Buckwits, i reckon.

    …an interesting answer from Garmin. I knew about 20 bikers including myself with this unit and full installation. There is no one who had faced out any problems with this guide.

    @blakrj, I am with you and had the same thoughts...
    @ Neil, yes I totaly agree with you, but there are some users who was happy with version 4.80, because they solve the SD-Card problem. I never had these problem and will stay with 4.70

    The changelog is quite vague about the 'SD card problem': [Fixed an error that caused some SD cards to not be recognized]. I took that to mean the problem of some brands of cards not being recognized (I think Garmin only recommends Sandisk & Kingston for that reason). Was there some other problem specific to Zumo 600 series?

    I can tell only from experience we made during the time we are using this device. It wasn't only some brands, what it makes so difficultly to give a general answer. Sometimes they had problems within the same series of a brand. It happen that these cards was recognize and the next time not. Transcend, and Kingston, Scandisk I have in my mind. Sometimes they are working, sometimes not. Very often they had a problem during a trip and we didn't find a general answer, because at the same time other friends had no problems with the same card in their device. I didn't had any problems with my 32GB Lexar Class 10 (so I'm lucky), but we all have a backup-card if we made a longer trip (only in case of...). It seems these problems are solved since version 4.80.

    The problem is this kind of problems and some other things makes it not easy to find good arguments for a new Garmin device in the future. If a manufacturer solves a major problem not before end of a product live-cycle and eliminate functions within a cycle like the guide issue, it will not make a future customer really happy and trust him to buy once more an expensive device. When I am looking to my friends, there are already five of them who made the decision against Garmin. And the most important argument is that they felt Garmin is not listening to the needs of bikers with their actual products for biker (all Garmin customers since very long time). They did pay a lot for this kind of premium devices and become less functionality and quality in comparison to other product lines from Garmin.

    Anyway, I am quite happy not to have the need to look for a new device this year.
    To say it clear, I don’t like to make here a statement pro or contra Garmin, but my feeling is that Garmin needs to listen more carefully to their customers. Only a guess...

    @Neil and @duck42 - totally agree on the sentiment. Also, never had any issue with the full language guide. Its not the end of the world, as can always use my iPhone and Google translate or other apps; but it was convenient and I didn't have to rack up large phone bills. Having done a 13 country tour in Europe over a couple of weeks last summer, it came in handy. I will be going back to 4.70 and thanks for the tip on carrying spare SD card - needed even more now that my EU map no longer fits in the device memory.

    Of course, use in Garmin folder whether with card or on unit. Please read Post #1 fully.

    @NaRCoZe
    G'day, welcome to GPSPower.

    zumo 350 is similar to nuvi 34/34x0 and 24/25x5 series all of which can use this. Provided you have the Language Guide icon present in the Apps menu it should work.
