Default Peugeot 2008 smeg unit not turning on

    Hi all,

I have a peugeot 2008 2013 and have a smeg 3.21 running on it. I have the car a few months without problems.
A few days ago, i started the car but the unit was not turning on. The temperature was quite high (35-40 C). Later that night i found some folks with similar problems proposing re-plugging the fuses of the touch screen. So i did and it worked.
However, the problem has appeared quite many times already (e.g. 6 times in a few days) and occasionally i m not able to get it back working. Neither re-plugging the fuses nor the battery does the trick. I have to re-try at a different time and it may randomly work. e.g. I got it yesterday, tried the battery & fuses without luck, tried again today (without luck again) and after several attempts it randomly worked.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what could be the cause of this problem?
    Thanks in advance

P.S. The temperature continues to be high in my area, but i have faced the problem also after carefully parking the can in a Shade, protected by the sun. And it has a record of working in higher temperature. Not sure if its related, just mentioning it.

Thanks, I ll have a look.
I saw a video on the disassembly ( [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] ) but could not really spot the fan location on that.
Are the fans inside in the main unit or are they located somewhere externally? Will come back with update

If temp is high, you can hear the fan when turn on your car, speed is high for refresh the system.
Otherwise, fan is inside the unit:

    Hi Again,

So I took out the unit and disassemble it. What i noticed is that the fan (as shown on picture) is connected to the unit with spring connections (it is not soldered). These did have some dirt on them.
I cleaned up these contact surfaces and also stretched the springs so they have better contact.
I am sure i have heard the fan working at some point yesterday before a (one more) failure and perhaps there was some intermittent connectivity of it.
The unit turned up without problems, but it could also be due to the reseting of it. I will wait a few days to see if it happens again and will follow up with a fan check if necessary.

I am attaching photos of my unit.

So after a few days, will come with an update. Thanks again for the tip mytheuzen.

    Hey again,

It's been almost 1 month after doing this "fix" and the unit works properly without any problems, even in very hot days and sun exposure.
Thanks again mytheuzen for your tip. This thread can be closed now
